Signing Horace Grant was such a score for the Magic in the '94-'95 season. It enabled Shaq to not have to guard the quicker and smaller centers because Grant could. Grant made at least 2-3 all defense teams, he was a good defender, good rebounder and could hit the 17' jumper consistently. I always thought 'Zo was the more skilled player than Shaq. 'Zo had the baby hook, shot FTs better and could hit a 17'-20' jumper pretty consistently. 'Zo also wasn't afraid to challenge shots and let the results speak for themselves whereas Shaq had (still has) such a fragile ego he'd hack the shit out of someone instead of trying to make a clean play and get dunked on. Shaq always had a thing against the Georgetown boys: Ewing, Mutombo and 'Zo.

How could Alonzo Morning be more skilled than Shaquille when Shaq has a song called "I know I got skills"?

What a disappointing time for the Magic yeah good during regular season get all the way to NBA Finals where they were swept. If Nick Anderson had made a free throw Magic may had still lost to Rockets but anything would had been better than sweep. Even Shaq made free throws game 1 vs Rockets. Every Magic player who went to foul line in game 1 vs Rockets made free throws except for Nick Anderson.

Shaq was certainly the better center of the two but don’t dismiss mourning. If it wasn’t for Jokic he’d be the best center today. He’s certainly better than Dwight Howard before he had kidney failure.

Shaq better than Zo when they were young and it wasn’t even close. All this and to the think the league tried to promote them as a legitimate rivalry when they were drafted.
@Riles31523 жыл бұрын
Shaq was certainly the more dominant force, and was the more valuable player overall, but lets not look at it as if Shaq was being compared to some guy. Morning in his prime before his Kidney Issue, was basically a 20 and 10 player and one of the best 2 way centers in the league.
@frankherman94343 жыл бұрын
@@Riles3152 Absolutely, but let's be fair here, Zo is undersized center.Shaq's size (both height and weight ) over Zo is so obvious! It is very difficult to wrestle with someone that has 27 kg more than you.And on top of that, Shaq is very quick for his size.So the only advantage that Zo had over Shaq is his quickness, but it doesn't seem like a huge factor anyway.

How many DPOYs does Shaq have?
@nonyobussiness3440 Жыл бұрын
They wanted to promote the expansion teams and both played in Florida in 1995. Zo was a great center and great player. He was defensively awesome and he was undersized. Also, obviously Shaq was better but in order to market and showcase Shaq’s greatness, the league wanted to fans to aware of how great Zo was. Shaq out playing Zo is no small feat, and should highlight how great he was
@Joshua-xg7pg Жыл бұрын
I think mourning was seen as a player with a Bill Rusell like game because he was a great defensive player and scoring, so in a way they thought that they would be the 90's version of rusell & wilt .

This Zo could have taken Shaq if they were in the Finals because Shaq didn't have the touch on his shot yet
