SHAR: Set to Kill vs. Alien Autopsy III Debate

Which of these two is the hardest mission in the Simpsons Hit and Run Truly?? Today I try to break it down.

As someone who speed runs this game, and as such have a fair bit of knowledge on it, I can say with confidence that Set to Kill is a harder mission to play casually. The time limit is very unfair, there’s a good chance you’ll get hit and run, and there’s also a good chance you’ll blow your car up. Autopsy Pt. 3, while tricky, is easily beat with very little practice due to its linear nature.

Set to kill is actually not hard at all. Well, I can see what you mean if you take every item on the way and then have to get back to Krusty before the time runs out. But if you leave one or two items at Planet Hype, and take them on the way back, the mission is very easy. So the only thing that can make it a little harder is if you get Hit and Run and have bad luck with traffic. Otherwise, Autopsy pt.3 is much easier even tho that mission is very easy too.

because AA part 3 IS worse. if you think set to kill is hard you just suck. AA 3 is circumstantially difficult because of the slippery car youre given. One crash with the waste and you basically failed. In my most recent playthrough I finished Set to Kill first try, even with a few mistakes AND a hit and run. exactly how badly are you fucking up on that mission to make it hard? AA part 3 took me 3 or 4 tries

Funny thing, actually. I remember as a kid not really finding any mission in this game very hard. Then, I realized that I would always skip frustrating missions like this and I had forgotten about doing that. I remember having a difficult time on the Cletus mission in the first level. The tomacco field always gave me trouble, for some reason.

Set to kill is easier imo, as even though you have to start the mission with the super villain car but you can swap it to a better car for your preferred playstyle and restart it using any car you want, I went through the hole game not long back using the family sedan and cleared it first try with relative ease (some missions such as races weren't possible though)

I'm late to this discussion, but Set to Kill is way easier. There are three very important tricks that make it way easier. 1. Save the stand past the bowling alley in the middle of the road for last. Gives you an extra 5 or so seconds. 2. When going off the ramp to get down to the Squidport, aim to the right where there's that path with the wrench and reset. It'll put you near the Itchy and Scratchy store, which will save probably 10 or less seconds. 3. If you take the ramp into the C-Spanker, reset during the jump and it'll put you on the road facing the Duff Brewery, saving 5 sec +. These tricks make Set to Kill way easier.

In case you might be still reading, if you keep honking your horn on the boardwalk, the pedestrians will jump out of your way and on that circular section under the big ramp, you’re better off driving counter clockwise around it with the other cars rather than against them.

There are 3 things you can do to make set to kill much easier even with the super villian car. 1. Use the radar. You can see where the both the gun stands and where the cops are coming from. And you will get cops it part of the squidport level design. 2. Dry run the mission several times so you can the learn the fastest routes and practice hitting the short cuts. 3. Skip the stand by the bowling alley get the others come back down the hit from the gas station jump and then get the bowling alley one. This will buy more time on the final part of the mission. Remember the game has basically there different maps and they appear in the game in a repeating cycle with it going easy normal hard. Evergreen Terrence is easy, down town is normal and squidport is hard. Because set to kill is one of the last missions on squidport's second level it's going to really hard. Alien autotopes 3 is one the easy map so it being the last mission on the last level is kind of offset by that. If every level had a unique map then set to kill would still be a pain in the ass but alien autotopes 3 would be way harder.

You don’t even need to use the villain car for Set To Kill. Once you start the mission with it without getting into the car, you can switch to a different one if you wanted to avoid it.

Set to kill while relentless, all I do is change vehicles. Switch the villian car with the car built for homer since it's faster and much more durable. Alien autopsy 3 is your classic last mission is also the hardest mission. You can't switch the jeep out , guarantee cops are gonna come after you, and you have to and I mean you have to use every damn shortcut in that level to reach the ship since you have a measly 1 minute. Thank christ the Jeep is durable and the rocket boost was added, otherwise it would've been next to impossible.

Like charles xavier said in x-men first class "true focus lies inbetween rage and serenity". If you memorise the shortcuts on the last mission and drive with a small amount of recklessness, you'll easily pass. With set to kill, the e-brake comes in very useful for sharper and tighter braking.. plus getting a feel for a vehicle and practice helps, fail the first time to get a feel for the mission and the best advice, remain calm students.

My play style is generally more slow and methodical, with a heavy reliance on shortcuts. For me Alien Autotopsy part 3 was hardest. Grampa's WWII vehicle for me was a bitch to drive, shitty handling where one hit sent me spiralling. Because of that, no matter how careful I drove I would always hit the pedestrians I try to avoid, and thus get Hit & Run, which just made not crashing with the shitty car even harder. Had to go back to the power plant countless times on countless retries of the mission. The shortcuts also were very annoying, as the lack of control meant I crashed easily after completing one (the fire truck shortcut next to the kwik-e-mart especially - so many crashes into the hedge after I land). While the super villain car was equally shitty to drive, I found I didn't have to be as careful with crashes and shortcuts, so that while it was incredibly hard, it was only second hardest for me.

Yep the pressure you get on them timed levels makes it 1000 times easier to mess up because you try to drive way too fast but in alien autoaupsy 3 I always hit stuff and loose the barrel which is super annoying but it still is no where near as bad as set to kill, on that level you basically have to do a picture perfect speed run just to beat it. Honestly if the developers gave you 10 more seconds to beat set to kill it would be 10,000 times easier.

You definitely made the right choice Johnny Set to Kill is a harder mission than Alien Autotopsy Part 3 i feel your pain with Set to Kill collecting the laser stands despite the hit and run and all the cars isn’t too bad but getting back to Krusty Studios in 50 seconds is the worst portion of any mission in the game my strategy the more I’ve played is to drive past the laser stand at 5:45 and make that the last one you collect so you are closer when the 50 seconds clock starts! Try it it’ll make it easier!!

Using the glitch where you are able to use a different car then the assigned car, I use Mr. Burns Limo. It is pretty fast and can fit through gaps better then the villain car. I also sometimes use the Ferrini. Only if I am playing through the game twice, and have access to those cars. And that’s only for Set to Kill!

Set to Kill is for sure a very difficult mission. The tight timer, and some of the stand placements definitely try to set you up for failure. Really though, you just need to know some of the tricks to it. No need for glitches, just utilizing some in game functions. 1. Skip the 22nd stand between the trees in that median. You can collect it as you make your way back from the last one. This will give you a head start on that 50 second return timer. 2. When you make the jump going into the ship on the pier, reset your vehicle at the first turn inside of it. You will respawn on the other side, and head straight to the last turn before krustylu studios. Combine these with decent driving, and you shouldn't have too much trouble with it

Set to Kill is much easier to cheese than Alien Autopsy Part III. AAIII requires careful driving so as to not destroy the nuclear waste barrel. As for this mission, here’s how to make it infinitely easier: 1. Make sure you look back constantly so that way you can despawn people standing in your path. 2. The timer to get back to Krusty is always set at 50 seconds regardless of how much time is left. So, leave a gun stand near the Bowl-a-Rama up on purpose, destroy the rest, then return to destroy that gun stand. The timer will start, but now you’re much closer to Krusty than if you just destroy the stands in order, having the 50 second timer start when you’re at the gas station. 3. There’s a very generous respawn point in the Sea-Spanker that’ll spawn you on the other side of it if you line yourself up properly. This’ll shave like five seconds of time. All of those tips helped me beat this mission with the Donut Truck. Yes, that truck.

I'd say it's Alien Autopsy III. Set to Kill is hard if you don't do some of the tricks to make it easier. It's very easy to hit and run on both missions, but especially Set to Kill due to Squidport being littered by pedestrians, but you can use the rear view trick to despawn some people. Here's the big kicker for me that makes Set to Kill a lot easier: regardless of what stand you destroy last, you will always have 50 seconds to get back to Krustylu Studios. You don't have to leave the stand by the gas station to be the last stand you destroy. You can destroy one of the stands by Bowlarama or the Aztec Theater last and you'll still have 50 seconds to get back, but this time, you are much closer to Krustylu Studios to start that 50 second countdown. So what you do is that you intentionally miss one of the stands around the Bowlarama area, destroy the stands around the gas station, then loop back around and destroy the one you left standing. With that trick and the use of the Sea Spanker shortcut, I've been able to bet Set to Kill in the Family Sedan. Another thing that makes Set to Kill easier is that the stands all have disjointed hitboxes, allowing them to be hit from further away than you think. This is especially important at the start, since a few of the stands are placed near the wall or corners. If you get familiar with their hitbox, you can easily dodge the wall and corners of some of the stands that hug them. If you always destroy the stand by the gas station last, then yeah, the mission is way more difficult than Alien Autopsy III. You have to make use of a bevy of shortcuts and/or race perfectly back to Krustylu. As for Alien Autopsy Part III, you get access to the WWII Jeep w/ Rocket, a very fast vehicle that has some handling issues, but is otherwise a top tier vehicle, to go up against the Ferrini Black. The race isn't hard, it's the transporting the barrel to the UFO. Not only do you have a strict time limit that only gets stricter if you don't make use of the bevy of shortcuts around the Simpson house, but the Ferrini Black gets right in the way of where you usually shortcut, and can be difficult to dodge without slowing down and losing even more time. I'd say both of them are equal in difficulty. Both are very hard but can be worked around. EDIT: It took a few tries, but I finished Set to Kill with Cletus' Pickup.

I will say this. The boat reset makes Set to Kill MUCH easier. Without it, however, it's probably damn near impossible. Beyond that, Auto Topsy 3 is probably harder than Set to Kill just because of the vehicle you are given. In Set to Kill, you have Globex, which is the fastest car you have access to at that time. While it is prone to random unwanted wheelie crap every now and then, it's nothing compared to the Canyonero 2.0.

Whenever I watch people play this game, they never use their horn... Going through the squidport in Set To Kill is a good point to use it... It helps move the pedestrians out of your way... Just an FYI.

Tbh I've never had that much issue with Set to Kill. I've just finished playing through the game again and got it on my 3rd or 4th try. Tip: leave the stand by Barney's Bowl-o-rama til last. That way you have less distance to travel when returning to Krusty studios.

Despite all the comments I’ve been reading, I’d have to say Autopsy 3 is harder. Set to kill is based off of strategy and knowing which stands to destroy first and avoiding cars, people, and cops wile speeding through and making it back strangely and carefully. Autopsy 3 however is super inconsistent, in set to kill you can at least bump into a wall to two before making it back but you can NEVER do that on autopsy 3. You can’t slow down a bit at the beginning race, you have to speed across the map to the Kwik E Mart in less than a minute avoiding traffic, walls, and cops or else you bump slightly into something you have to go all the way back in a minute, even after avoiding the car it’s so stressful to rush to the school without bumping into anything. And autopsy 3 was the mission that caused people to not finish the game, not set to kill. Imo I think Autopsy 3 is harder but it was not by a lot.

just finished the game a few hours ago for the first time in decades possibly, and Set to Kill was deffo harder. although I totally forgot about the technique where you leave the 3rd last laser dispenser last, so I just made it with 1 second to go. Alien Autopsy III was just easy, only problem is not getting the cops and not going too fast over jumps which would result in a crash ruining the toxic waste.

I had to skip set to kill, because I rarely even made it to the corner from the studio and when I did, a truck would usually spawn and crash headfirst into me, making the mission impossible, I completed the mission after I completed Alien Autopsy III. Alien Autopsy Took me 2 tries (Not including destroying waste and then recollecting it) while set to kill took me at least 15 tries to beat. It's obvious which one is the harder one.

While it wasn't harder, I was actually more annoyed by Never Trust A Snake than either of those because it feels more like a marathon mission. Probably doesn't help that a lot of them requires you to be on foot, it feels more punishing to lose it.

This mission is really easy on the way back with speedrun strats. Just jump into the C-Spanker and reset position, and you’ll skip the whole rest of the boardwalk.

Resetting isn't a glitch. It's an intended mechanic of the game that's easily exploitable wheh you know how it works. Same with despawning cars by looking behind. As opposed to, say, doing environment clips in Level 7.

Set to kill was much more difficult that alien autopsy part 3 because atleast with alien autopsy part 3 it will give you some more time to get back and get another barrel of toxic waste everytime you accidentally destroy a barrel of toxic waste. It even resets the time after you get a new barrel of toxic waste beaches 👍

I performed *Set to Kill* with no glitches and cheats. Obviously it cost me a lot of tries. After all it's no too hard the mission for me EDIT: Ok guys I regret. Know I remember I used the trick of change your car for the mission. You know, I didn't completed it with original car of the mission :(

I mean I don't remember having trouble with Set to Kill but I tried for ages and never managed to beat Alien Autopsy III so for me it's a no brainer. 7:35 okay no I remember that shortcut fucking me up lol still beat Set to Kill and not Alien Autopsy III though

Finished Set to Kill first try in my latest play-through of this game. Thats with the required car and going the wrong way right at the start wasting several seconds. Haven’t gotten to AA Part 3 yet but I guarantee it will take me more than 1 try. “muh hardest level in the game” pfffft.

If you start Set to Kill with the Globex Car, but don't get in it, you can call a different car from the phone box. It's an easier mission with a smaller and tougher car

set to kill is way harder because the structure is so messed up you got to drive to squidport so you can't avoid a hit and run because you have to drive fast and there's a lot of people that you clearly cannot avoid also , the time you have to get back the krusty loo is just too short a the trafic in level 6 is hard to avoid

Thing is in set to kill your driving a good car but the traffic and people in the way will make u lose time and alien autopsy III you have to carefully take the toxic waste to the ship but avoid all cars and objects so hmmmm quite hard decision to make

I simply buy the Villian car and before I get in the car to start, I just go to a phone booth and call in Bandit car. Makes the mission a lot easier. Also, don't rush and book it.

Neither of them are that hard to me tbh. If you know every short cut in set to kill then youre good with the 50 second timer. You just gotta tale that little ally way on the pier and then go through the boat. The timer for destroying the stands is simple. As for aa3, as long as youre good at avoiding people the timer is fair because of the escape the sedan part near the simpsons house.

Alien Auto Topsy pt3 is much worse. I never really had a problem with Set To Kill. But with Alien Auto Topsy pt3 it was what stopped me from completing he game for years.

I suppose it comes down to personal preference and strategies. I’d personally say AAIII was the hardest due to Set To Kill having a very useful trick. Skip the Stand after the Aztec Theatre. And if I may quote a comment about AAIII, “The only thing that kept me from destroying my controller was Grandpa’s hilarious quotes.”.
