Just to clarify the misinformation being spread around this guy: It was his first grappling tournament, he signed up to compete at lower division but was placed at the highest division with BJJ black belts and stuff. He knew his opponent is famous for Ankle locking (as per Shara, the opponent even does seminars on that). Shara’s ankle was still healing after recent injury, so as soon as he knew about his opponent, he wanted to quit to not mess up his UFC debut. But instead he approached the opponent, spoke to him 3 times and they agreed not to use ankle lock. During the fight, guy immediately went on his back and proceeded with leg lock. He didn’t even finish the leg lock when Shara stood up and kicked him. Keep in mind that man’s word means a lot in Dagestan.
