SHARE (2019 - 2023)

SHARE (2019-2023) is part of the DGD-AfricaMuseum cooperation programme between Belgium and Rwanda, among other countries, aiming to share heritage and knowledge.
On October 28 2021, the AfricaMuseum transferred over four thousand digitized sound recordings of Rwandan musical traditions from its collections to the Rwanda Cultural Heritage Academy. The partners decided to work together on the (re)appropriation of the Rwandan sound archives by contemporary artists. Since November 2023 they worked with the URUGANGAZI TROUPE in Huye and the producers MICHAEL MAKEMBE in Kigali. They created short videos for social media to attract students and artists who may draw inspiration from this shared sounds library for their creative work.
