I wish you every happiness with your new foot, new home and new studio! You have endured so much and you’re still smiling. Your positive outlook could be a lesson for some people who don’t have any reason to be miserable, but are! 🥰🥰

Thank goodness for the many medical advances and devices that are available! (I'm absolutely amazed at how you can cut fabric, sew it and manipulate it with one hand! ) So happy you have a new foot that can accommodate all your shoes and flip flops! It gives you the options you've been missing!❤❤❤❤

You know, those of us with all of our "parts" don't always think about the trials and tribulations of being an amputee. I really appreciate you sharing your 'secret' with us. You have given me a better understanding of what amputees go through. I love your openness about yourself and your life. Your age?!? Oh my gosh girlfriend! that really surprised me. I could swear you were so much younger. Thank you for opening my eyes! As for your studio, it is beautiful! I love the way you decorate, with the detail and care you have put into it. Jim is such a wonderful man. The two of you have accomplished so much in eight months. You deserve every moment of happiness that comes your way!

My wife and I first met you 23 to 24 years ago at the Coach Stop Inn. I never saw you as handicapped; just a someone who didn't have a left arm - kind of like a descriptor, like you having blonde hair. The time at Halloween when you were in costume with your left arm in a sling really threw us off. We couldn't figure out who it was because we had accepted you as yourself. You are an attractive, strong and resilient women. You fully understand that while you may not be able to change your situation, you can change how you react to it. Glad to see that you are doing well and thank you for sharing - Don Wolfe

Oh Marnae, your studio looks so homey! You have a gift in decorating. I just have an OCD thing where everything is folded and placed in the right place. After I get going, it starts getting homey. My first husband's mother was always my friend. We went garage sailing everywhere. I decorated my apartment with our finds. I found a place where the woman bought new clothes every change of season. She wore the same size as me. I would have stylish clothes for mere pennies, as she wanted the closet space! A $100 outfit for $2.50! You have quite the eye for decorating. I too love antiques. My apartment had beautiful wood furniture, stained and varnished. You take your finds and they belong together. 😊❤ It's lovely... you are blessed, you are loved ❤

You are awesome!!!! When I first watched your video I thought how in the world could this lady quilt with one arm?? And then I saw where your shop had burned. I thought dear Lord please bless this beautiful lady. Later on I started seeing your shop being built your home being moved and everything put together. Marna, the Lord does have you. And now today as you share this with your foot. I had no clue. I would love to know your history of your reasoning why you are double amputee You give such inspiration. I share your videos with my family that quilts. When they say they can’t. I said listen hear watch then video. Then tell me you can’t!!!! May the lord bless you in your life in your quilting and continue loving on Tilly. Texas girl!!! ❤❤❤❤❤

I can’t think of anything different to say that hasn’t been said! I am amazed at your attitude and your accomplishments!? I honestly did not know that you had any kind of foot problems! You certainly don’t walk like it! I thought you were 37 or 38. You just look and move that way! I wish I could move half as well! Love your new home and your sewing studio! You and Jim deserve it! You both work very hard! I had just started watching a few months before the fire! Even then you amazed me! I liked your special tool to help you with cutting fabrics! You are uniquely creative! Enjoy your new foot! I am amazed and would be painting those toenails every other day! Someday, when you feel like it, I would like to hear how you lost your arm and part of your foot. Accident or illness? It’s not really my business…just wondering! You are an inspiring example for all of us! Thanks, Marnae! You, Jim and Tillie stay safe!

I came very close to losing my arm. At 5 years old, I was making lunch for my family of 5. I had everything on the stove just a particular way. I don't know clearly what happened. My mother was very abusive. I know the handles were placed in a situation so I couldn't get burned. I don't remember getting on the chair to see the stove. I just remember getting things ready. The 3 pans of water were boiling, but a 4th pan was on the stove. Then I remember desperately trying to pick up the food on the floor, thinking I was going to get in trouble for making a mess and ruining lunch. I then heard my mother yelling, my Dad came running. He put me in the sink pouring tepid water on me and trying to cut my clothes off. He was unable to get all my clothes off because it had melted into my skin, mostly my right arm, all of it, my right torso, and my right thigh and the top of my foot. I also burned my hands and knees while on the floor, only first and second degree. Most of my right side was third degree burns. My father kept yelling for an ambulance, my mother said no. She called the doctor. He didn't realize how bad I was. He wanted an ambulance. My mother argued that she had new furniture to pay for. I went into the doctor's office 3 times every day for debridement. I didn't know what they were actually doing. But, after soaking off the bandages, they would cut the dead skin off. I knew my mother had something to do with my injuries. She wasn't near the table. She sat in the corner, smoking and reading her book. One day I hollered out and said "look Ma, it looks like pork chop fat"! She went down 😊... I dealt with the scars for years. It's amazing how that water didn't hit my face, just where clothing couldn't hide the worst of it. For a small Iowa doctor, he did an amazing job. He had the pharmacist make a salve after my debridement was over. I had to keep the burns out of direct sunlight. Until I was 11. I know the pain of not feeling pretty. By the time I was in highschool, I could wear regular clothes, and occasionally heels. In my 20's, I got my first LBD, little black dress. 😊❤

I sort of know where your coming from saying about being a women, when I was 50 I had a double mastectomy and I felt really low. I had prosthetic boobs and they made me really hot and uncomfortable and I cried all the time. Two years later I had a reconstruction and I’m very happy with them😁 Unfortunately 10 years on I’ve found out I have cancer again, I’m going to have chemo and radiation therapy so not looking forward to that at all. Say lots of prayers for me please and hopefully I will still be able to sew all the lovely things. I’m so happy for you and I hope you are well. Lots of love and hugs xxxxx

Marnae I don't any of how you became an amputee. I'm one that doesn't like to be nosy. All I know is your quilting is some of the most beautiful, work I have seen. I have only been to a couple quilt shows but your work just blows me away. Thank you for being so honest and brave to tell us about your foot. You are simply something to behold. That foot looks so so real. Wow they did an excellent job for you. I wrote a whole lot more but for some reason it didn't get written here. Im 75 and teaching myself to quilt. I just want to make a few for family members. Especially my daughter. She's 41 and she has found out a couple months ago she has leukemia. So I want to get mine done first. It's a learning quilt so to speak, and then on to hers. I still haven't figured out what I'm doing with hers. Doggone it I'm very upset about everything else I wrote to you that didn't show up on here. Your quilting is just so beautiful. I don't know how you do it. Your abilities are not impeded in any way by only having one arm. I only hope to give my daughter one that's half as beautiful as one you have made. I'm so happy to have found you here on KZbin. Hugs and much love......Marlene I was wondering what i could do around a panel. My hubby wants a throw. I have a wolf panel coming but im not sure how to proceed with it. Any ideas Marnae? Thank you for any ideas.

Had no idea you were double amputee. So happy you got your new foot! The studio is coming along so nice! Are you going to open it up to the public to come sew? I have a quilt I’m stuck on!!
