I have trouble finding big bonsai pots one of my was in the ground since 1985 and the trunk is 24in around

Decide on what you want the tree to grow into...and work towareds that goal. Given you said it is you, consider planting it in the ground or in a large growing pot to develop size and also give you design opportunities.
