Hi there! Do you know about the Burn Where You Buy campaign? Do you know that the Spotted Latternfly has a symbiotic relationship with the Tree of Heaven? Does your area have an Extension Office or Master Gardener Program? If it does, you might reach out to the Answer Clinic there, and ask them if they have a seed exchange event, or why there might be laws against seed sharing in your area. I am learning what plants are native to my area, how plant quarantines are managed and conducted, and why it's important. Land conservation is important. Knowing that plant and soil diseases can be transferred is important.

They who plant the seed believe they have also grown the seed. Wawa grows the seeds Mama's name is a reflection of. They are selfish with their seed when it comes to feeding life Mama gives, so they keep their lying priests and politicians fed. They love the gospels and money of men, so build over fruits, not caring about their seeds, while telling Mama's what to do with our wombs. They are selfish and self centered

I live in California. I was not aware of this seed sharing law, but I know that in my community packets of seeds are given away at farmers markets, and I even had a coworker that would go around, passing out seed packets at the beginning of spring, in preparation for planting that was just her yearly practice was to pass out seeds…nobody ever said anything against it. Nobody ever brought up the illegal seed sharing aspect, so this is a shock to me. I’m going to look into it further, and I thank you for bringing it up. EDIT TO ADD: upon further research, it appears that the bad actors behind these restrictions are Big Ag-Monsanto, DuPont, Bayer, and the Koch Brothers among others…the creators of GMO seeds or it’s technology…in other words, the groups who would have the most to lose if GMO crop monopolies were threatened. So disgusting!

That's why it's best to stick with "organic" seeds as much as possible because ALL organic food stuff is non-GMO and is not monetarily regulated under the jurisdiction of those companies you mentioned. HOWEVER__if people want to share seeds from plants they grow, then their neighbors must be growing "organic" as well. Otherwise, when the plants are 'naturally' pollinated it's possible their plants could be pollinated with GMO plants from their neighbors, which does fall under the 'jurisdiction' of sharing/selling/bartering without compensation to those companies__which is THEN illegal, because [they] aren't getting compensated. 😣 Re: the heirloom varieties, I was pretty sure people were being encouraged to grow/share more of them to continue the lineage so they wouldn't die out. When it comes to giving total control over the world's seeds/crops to these conglomerates WE ALL need to be ''rebels"! 🙏😇🌱🌿🌻🐝🐓🌳🌎💖🙌😺

That’s not their motivation… they are against small agriculture because they want every person on the planet enslaved to these few monopoly companies. You will have to get all your food, water, shelter, healthcare, and law enforcement from the wealthy one percent and if you do anything else, it has to be illegal. You should look up “Grazon herbicide in cattle manure”, if you really wanna flip your lid about what these big ag businesses are doing to destroy small ag. Hint… Stop using any products with manure and don’t buy manure from your local farmers for your fertilizer. Do not buy hay. if you raise livestock that needs hay grow it yourself or find a source of organic hay that has not been treated with herbicide. Find another way to amend your soil. My front flower bed where I added miracle Gro soil is ruined for at least a decade. Only thing that will grow well in there is grasses. So that’s why I expanded my chicken coop with 22 chickens now, so I have plenty of fertilizer from my own flock. You can’t trust anybody anymore. You must be self-sufficient to the best of your ability or you’re not gonna make it. I hate to be the doom and gloom police, but here we are. ☮️

I love seeing this. As a criminal justice major, I love a good legal challenge. Especially being in the state of California. The funny thing is the seed sharing law can be compared to the laws we have about adultery. The courts don’t care to enforce. We have some of the biggest seed selling companies right here in the state including patented heirloom seeds. This only means if you grow it and sell it you must tell where it’s from, much like an artist who uses copyrighted material. Everything is really a sellers market. Meaning I will allow them to break the law if the state can tax it. Then well over look it. Much like the states that allow cannabis. It’s legal in states but illegal federally speaking. I appreciate this video. Don’t stop sharing seeds. Share share share. Because he’s I look seeds can be found at Walmart. Lol

"It's illegal but no one enforces it," is not legal protection. It might be fine now, but we don't know how things can change in the future. (Eg it's not impossible that some time in the future, AI cameras can determine plants that are patented and geolocate them and put a lien on the property owner.) Best is to grow unpatented heirloom plants and save your own seeds.

You just popped up in my feed and I've subscribed. I LOVE your personality so much! Some of the states banning seed sharing also made collecting rainwater illegal! REALLY?!? Luckily...and surprisingly, my state (VA) allows both. Though it wouldn't surprise me if our current governor would work to ban both. He seems to want to get rid of anything that's good for some reason. I'm wondering how this can be enforced. I mean are there tomato police going around to inspect everyone's gardens? Probably not...this law is ridiculous! And if you sell or give away your seeds that you've been keeping from your family's past gardens, how can they tell if they are YOUR seeds or Heirloom seeds? I just can't wrap my head around this! I can tell you that a friend of mine who lives in Kyiv, Ukraine just sent me some of her Marigold seeds. She sent the dried flowers instead of just the seeds. Maybe it was to fool people at the post office...haha! I dunno. But she knows I know how to harvest seeds. I now have 17 happy Ukranian Marigolds (same as US Marigolds- just originally grown in Ukraine) sprouting under my grow light in my bedroom and will transplant them into my garden when it's warm enough out.

Nothing better than spending time with you! Your report is JUICY! JUICY! JUICY! I knew about patented seeds. Starting new trees, roses and other perennials from cuttings is a bigger problem. Not allowed with new or old patented plants. As far as gmo seeds, don't do that anyway! Only a few vegetables, one apple tree that doesn't brown when cut and field crops. Crops nowadays look like forests compared to what was grown when we were very young. Tell us that feeding the world necessitates. Gmo seeds can cross with other plants including wild ones and impart a natural insecticide. We need our butterflies. Best to let them keep them in containment. Seeing corn as big as young trees is amazing but not desirable when it escaped from a lab. Hybrid seed usually does not grow true to name. Open pollinated is ok to save as long as it is pollinated by its own namesake plant. Sneaky laws can surprise the unaware. Thank you for this report!

It is true that patented GMO seeds are often protected by intellectual property rules, meaning farmers must pledge not to save them and replant. Monsanto says it has sued about 150 farmers who it claims broke these rules over the past 20 years.

Yes but not for seed sharing-most of Monsanto stuff is seedless. They were suing neighbor farmers for copyright infringement when Monsanto plants cross pollinated with the other farmers plants. Also universities used to hold seeds in reserve and local farmers shared from plants they grew.

I dont have a garden but am considering a few planters on my balconie Herbs flowers etc My daughtwr does have a garden area and Id considered sharing since I wouldn't use a whole packet I live in one of those states So my thinking on it is this If I have herbs or runner beans or peas and too many ripe to use I could give them to her What she does with them is her business She could cook them or can em She could feed them to her chickens ( shes allowed to have 11) or she could throw em on her compost pile The latter two could have interesting results ! js Again Much respect from an old farmers grand daughter ! ❤😊

It’s my understanding, at least in Montana, that they were trying to control the dispersion of GMO plants. The valley I lived in prided itself on being a non-GMO growing area. The pollen from the GMO plants spread to the non-GMO plants and changed them. I had no idea of the seed law though, but can see where the “good intentions” come in.

Myself & surrounding neighbors all grow organically. Each of us contribute to our tiny MT town's food pantry. Even if none of us grew a garden *dumb idea* it wouldn't stop farmer squirrel who planted corn for our yards this summer & decided next year's crop will be peanuts. We're also right along the river, Montana in general is super windy, & what about all the birds that drop seeds?? When MT takes care of their human trafficking issues and meth houses....then they can incarcerate farmer squirrel. Take care, ~ Covah

Where government is concerned... "unintended consequences" are the intention. If they were not... they would fix the part of the law that allows those "unintended consequences"... yet they rarely do... and many times when they do... it is only to fix the "unintended consequences" that benefit citizens.

@@covahsmusicvault8953 I mentioned "good intentions," not that it's necessarily a good idea. Not every law that passes is thought through very well. This is one of those. I'm all in for incarcerating the deer thieves though 😅 All the best! ~Georgia

@@georgiawild4332 Luckily the deer stay clear of our yards. I think it's the high fences & the 5 dogs between us. We're also very close to the Yellowstone River where it's not uncommon to see 100 or so deer cross when the tide's at its lowest point. Squirrels are the issue in my community. Little suckers will dig out plants in flower pots so they can hide/plant their own goods... hence why I refer to ours as *farmer squirrel.* He's totally fearless of dogs no matter their breed. Honestly, I doubt most laws that *would benefit* us citizens are even considered. We have a store called Runnings here that had many of their veggie starters mislabeled this year. I wasn't affected because I grow my own from saved seeds. I also grow plants from seed for others. All I ask is for some seeds from the plant I grew for them. I'm a *mad scientist* when it pertains to generations of what I grow and/or share. I enjoy growing plants that are not supposed to grow here. Many folks in my community have started their own organic garden's because of the help I've offered them. Besides my dogs, gardening is my sanity. Our state has a high suicide rate, my goal is to help shut-ins such as myself find a way to heal through gardening. Positive vibes for you too, Georgia. I'm barely surviving all the impairments I have. Planning each season's garden is what gets me through the worst of news and/or pain. To me, that knowledge and tools are worth sharing. I've NO plans on changing.

Love you, Miss Pam! I was aware of seed laws, but I thought they only applied to businesses, not private exchanges, so this was informative to me. I should think that, as long as people are aware of these laws, and handle giving or swapping seeds responsibly, that they would have little to no application to the average person, anyway, at least, that is my hope. Unfortunately, there are always those controlling and manipulative opportunists who like to stir up trouble on either side of an issue, so, as you said in your own way, time will tell how this will go heading forward. It is discouraging, that our government is so controlling, that we cannot even freely share with one another! We do not want to end up falling into a social/communistic dictatorship! The more control and freedom that we relent to the government, the closer we get to this becoming a reality for our country! God, help us!

in general, if you are being wholistic and natural with your farming you will not want any patented seeds to begin with. Often times they are less nutritious and higher in harmful elements as they have been modified to increase their resistance to bacteria and other threats. But there is a general rule for food... if the germs and insects don't want it... neither do you.

You can "cook' the soil to sterilize it. Some use direct heat but some use ag tarps pinned over the soil for a few months to kill off weeds. What doesn't dissipate is any glyphosate or other chemicals that could be in it. If you can, make your own soil by composting food scraps, leaves and worm castings or chicken / rabbit / horse manure- poop of some sort. Aging is important depending on type.

All individuals have a natural, inherent and unalienable right to food, including the right to save and exchange seeds and the right to grow, raise, harvest, produce and consume the food of their own choosing for their own nourishment, sustenance, bodily health and well-being, as long as an individual does not commit trespassing, theft, poaching or other abuses of private property rights, public lands or natural resources in the harvesting, production or acquisition of food.”
