Wow Steve! Great cards man!! I live the newer older cards! Jordans!! The McChale was a steal!!! Wilt and Kareem’s too!! Pistol Pete just learning about him! With the Kaitlyn Clark stories and stats each day! He scored all of those college points in 3 seasons!!!!! That is amazing! Fun video!!

Hi Steve! I enjoyed seeing your graded basketball card collection. That 71 Maravich is such a beautiful card regardless of condition, but to have one in that high of a grade is just special. I remember you talking about when you picked it up. It amazes me that you found that card in the wild. That is my favorite basketball card of all time. I just love the colors and that early 70s Atlanta Hawks uniform. The look on Maravich's face is also interesting. I think it captures his distant and seemingly aloof personality during that phase of his life. You put him on a basketball court though and he was a showman. That Barry is a beautiful card too with the red, white and blue ABA ball. You're right about baseball putting its past players to the loftiest of heights where football and basketball commentators tend to regard the most recent players as the best. I am not a fan of comparing eras for that reason. It is a challenge to speculate how someone would do outside of their era. I do know that Wilt was the most dominant player of his era, which makes him an all time great. I love the 72 of his. His 73 is my favorite as it shows his whole body, and you can see how long his legs are. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Terry! That Maravich card is card and I was really lucky to find it! When you look at a lot of Maravich's cards you can often see how troubled he was, based on what I have read about him the basketball court is the place he found peace in his life, and man could he play! I think you are right about comparing players to the era in which they played, that is probably the best way to do it. Although it is fun to think about how many points Jerry West would have scored if he played with the three point line or how many yards and TDs Unitas would have in today's offensive friendly rules. Some of the best Chamberlain stories are about pickup games he played against NBA players such as Magic Johnson when he was in his late 40s to early 50s. He could still dominate in those games when he wanted and most of the players who played against him felt he could have played in the NBA well into his 50s if he wanted too. Appreciate you watching, take care my friend!

Lots of sweet basketball cards here Steve! Love the Nate Archibald and Kevin McHale! Real cool that you’ve had the George McGinnis and Dr J rookie since you were a kid!!The Artis Gilmore is a beauty! The Kareem’s look great too, I really like that 72-73! That Dr J All Star card is awesome! I like that one better than his rookie!
@vintageonvintage8176 ай бұрын
Thanks, Jim! I agree with you on that Dr. J Allstar card, the picture itself is so cool and better than his RC. The RC only gets the nod because I pulled it when I was 11. One of the reasons it is in fair shape is because when I first opened it I did not know who Dr.J was so I handled it less. Once I figured it out I put it in a binder fairly quickly. Thanks for watching, take care. Are you gong to Stongsville? John P and I are talking about heading there for a day or two.

Cool cards Steve! Wow! Lots of great vintage basketball and Jordan has always been and always will be my guy for all sports. I remember opening a bunch of those Skybox cards when they came out. I loved them then and still do. I'm surprised to see you wearing Badger gear. Take care buddy.
@vintageonvintage8176 ай бұрын
Thanks, Chris really appreciate it! When I first got back into collecting I found 2-3 of the Skybox boxes with 36 packs each at an antique store and grabbed them. I just love that set! My youngest daughter is graduating from Wisconsin this year! If you see me in Kansas gear it is my oldest daughter, if you see me in Indiana gear it is my middle daughter and Wisconsin gear is my youngest...most expensive sweatshirts ever LOL! Thanks for watching, take care!

Hey Steve! Great bball cards. Beautiful ‚72 McGuiness, Kareem, and Gilmore cards. The McGuiness is really tough to find centered like yours.
@vintageonvintage8176 ай бұрын
Thank you, really appreciate it. In all honesty I was a bit disappointed when that McGinnis came back a 6, I thought with the centering it was going to be a 7 to a 7.5! Thanks for watching, really appreciate it!

Steve, those MJ's bring back memories! I think I pulled most of those you showed out of packs back in the day! We are 1969 Topps Jerry West clubbies! I agree with your basketball GOATS thoughts. I tend to think of GOATS of eras, so that Wilt was a GOAT for a span of time, as well as Kareem, Dr. J, Bird and Magic, ... I realize I am totally messing with the GOAT acronym, since the "AT" stands for All Time! So really, I'm talking about GOSTS: Greatest of Some Time! 😆 I love seeing all the vintage Kareem, Wilt and Dr. J cards! Your AS rookie Dr. J is such a cool card! 🤯🤯🤯 Oh man, and then you close with the Dr. J rookie you have had from the beginning, so to speak! 🤯🤯🤯 I collect Dr. J cards from the 1983 to 1986 Star Co., but now I am thinking (because of you, you influencer, you! 😂👊) that at some point down the road, I should go for his RC and his AS RC as well!
@vintageonvintage8176 ай бұрын
Thanks, Adam! I agree with you on the GOATs I think you need to look at it as best of their era. Love that we are 1969 Topps West clubbies. I remember seeing your 83-86 Star Co. Erving cards, those are sweet looking cards. I think his RC and AS RC would be a great addition to those beauties!

Hey Steve! You definitely had my attention with Vintage Basketball. The ‘71 basketball set may be my favorite all time looking set of any of the sports. The ‘72 is great as well. Any card that showcases that awesome ABA ball. So cool that the McGinnis has been with you since you were a kid. You have a great Kareem collection. And that Maravich second year is gorgeous! Thanks for sharing some basketball Steve. I definitely geek out seeing some hoops cards. I’m glad you show them.

Nice share. Pretty cool that you put Wilt Chamberlin up there with MJ, Kobe, King James. Love the point that basketball is the only sport where modern players are considered the best to play the game. Nice cards, thanks for sharing with us.
@vintageonvintage8176 ай бұрын
Thank you, Steve! MJ, Kobe, and Lebron are all amazing and as players have evolved over the years they may be better than the older guys. One of the cool stories I heard about Wilt was after he had retired and was in his 50's he would play pick up games at Pauley Pavilion with some of the Lakers and NBA player like Marcus Johnson and David Greenwood. They would all say that even at 50 Wilt would dominate in those games and they all felt he could still play in the NBA at that age. Thanks for watching, always appreciate it!
