Sharing the Joy of Trains: Layout Visit to the Nebraska Iowa Railroaders

The Holidays are a special time of year so when our local train club has their clubhouse open an extra day each weekend, we gotta take advantage of it! It's more than just the trains, it's sharing these experiences with kids young and old! Take a trip with us to the Nebraska Iowa Railroaders Clubhouse at Oakview Mall in Omaha, NE. It's a wonderful time and a great way to get in the holiday spirit!

So cool, Mike! Those layouts are just so neat and fun to watch and the excitement on the kid's faces is priceless. The adults, too, as it takes them back to their childhood. We have a few places, where I live in Toledo, that still have Christmas train displays. My old club has displays at our zoo and one of the big Metro Parks and our remaining mall has a display, as well. I mentioned to Nick about how all of the old department stores always had big Christmas layouts, but have mostly faded away, as most have been bought out by Federated, which has re-branded itself as Macy's, since they took them over many years ago. Visiting their toy departments was a treat and I have great memories of those stores and their layouts. Either way, this is the best time of year for us train enthusiasts. I'm looking forward the the 3R/4D live stream, this Friday. An excellent video, as always.

1:23 I remember that I used to go to the Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital and in the second floor, where the x-rays are there is a train scene that can be controlled using buttons on the sides of the unit. Some of them control the trains speed others control the sound and some of them just controls the environment like the lights or doors of the house or cottage I remember seeing that little scene every time I wait for getting my bone age x-ray done

Do you know the radius curve on the command control layout?

The outer line is O-72. Inner line is O-60. My LionMaster that I ran didn’t need turns that wide but it did help running it safer at higher speeds!

Haha of the things I love about Lionel, they really need a redesign on Thomas’ face. The original show, the cgi versions, all the toy versions and video games, literally everything is better looking than what Lionel came up with 😆 But it’s still great to see Thomas getting some run time!
