TMCC and Legacy will work the same. If you had a number assigned to your Challenger before, that number will still work with the Base3. Are you using the Cab-3 App to control it or are you using a Remote like Cab-1L or Cab-2?

And on a side note where did you get the smoke deflectors for your Challenger?

TMCC isn’t Bluetooth, so you’ll need to type in the engine code on the Base3 side of the app.

There are several companies that make backdrops for all sorts of gauges. This is one my dad got me for Christmas in 2023. I can ask what company he used.

These were done as a custom run for The Train Loft (a shop in North Carolina) and I suspect the Big Boy references are to tie in their “4025” version that they did earlier. I personally would’ve preferred references to Rio Grande’s heritage instead of their own made-up Big Boy. Maybe I’ll re-name these cars later on down the road to make them more true to Rio Grande Heritage.

@Dadified86 Yeah that would be awesome! You're 100% correct. It's a reference to their special big boy which is offensively yellow. It's not just the up Heritage scheme that gets thrown around. It's also the green boiler steam engines that Lionel seems to insist on consistently producing in the wrong shade of green. For DieHard Rio Grande fans like myself, it's frustrating

@@doubleutubefan5 Yeah, on the one hand green boilers do look neat and it's a welcome departure from all the straight black locomotives in everyone's roster. But they do it too much and the green they've been using is more akin to something you'd see a Leprechaun using. 🍀 I do like the green on my Mogul that I got from Metca though. It makes a few appearances in this footage. Much more subdued and... even though that engine isn't one that DRGW had in their roster, it's a nice little engine to run.

@@Dadified86 Yes, I saw your little Mogul there and it's a really cool shade of green that I wish they did on the Challenger vision line that I have from them. I don't know how the lesser sub $500 engine got a more correct color than the 2000 plus dollar vision line. Somehow that doesn't make sense Like you said, it's a nice change up from all the black. But then if you wanted more prototypical stuff you could potentially go with MTH and then you lose all the Lionel reliability. I guess when it comes down to it you got to give up some stuff to get some stuff. Love your channel though. Just a side note, one of my holy Grail items would be to get a Sunset model's third rail tmcc Denver Rio Grande L131 articulated steam engine. For the last 7 years I've never seen one come up for sale and I've heard people say that when they do it's an eye-watering price

@@doubleutubefan5 Oh man that'd be awesome. Honestly Lionel or MTH needs to make that one. Always a bummer when the cool locomotives are rare hard-to-find super expensive versions like that. Just make more trains! I'm so tired of all the reprints!

Noticed that with my RailKing vista dome cars. Although the full vista car has lights. It’s a nice effect for our night train running sessions!

Honestly these might be my last set of 18” cars. The 16” cars seem to be better proportioned and look less silly around the tighter turns on my layout. I had suspected this would be the case with these full scale passenger cars but the graphics on them were too cool to pass up. But yeah, these pretty much confirm for me what I already suspected: cars are 18” long or bigger will look out of place on this layout with these trains.

@Dadified86 might as well add some figures while your at I get the Lionel figures for the 21' passenger cars and they fit perfectly in my Santa Fe cars where I don't have to cut feet off or trim them in any way and they look decent

I could run em behind anything but the Mogul would look a bit small hauling 70ft streamliners behind 😅

My only saving grace are my yellow UP streamlined cars. I can put the F3s, Challenger 3985, or Big Boy 4014 in front of those… so I usually just swap the engine since it’s easier than taking 7 cars off the tracks 😂

I mean, all the lights do appear to be on… nothing is getting warm even after an hour running last night. But yeah, I just loathe opening things that are seemingly kinda fragile… I have PTSD from watching Rays Trains luck with Atlas freight.
