Imagine this: you're about to play in a Matchroom event, facing Sanjin Pehlivanović, currently ranked #26 in the world. You’ve got one rack to prepare before the match starts, but it feels almost impossible to settle in. There are people everywhere, many eyes on you, and the atmosphere is tense. The table feels different from anything you've played on before-it's slick, and the pockets are unforgivingly tight. You know every shot needs to be perfect. When the match begins, Sanjin breaks and runs the table twice, making it look effortless. Meanwhile, you’re sitting there, hands shaking, trying to keep your composure in conditions that are anything but comfortable. It’s hard to describe what goes through your mind in these moments. You’ve been waiting all year for this chance, and it means everything. The pressure is immense, and the respect you have for your opponent and the conditions only adds to the challenge. Experiencing this kind of pressure firsthand is invaluable. It’s where you truly test your limits, where every mistake teaches you more than a hundred practice sessions could. It forces you to dig deeper, to find that extra gear you didn’t know you had. These moments of intense pressure are what separate good players from great ones-they build resilience, sharpen focus, and ultimately, make you a better competitor. That’s why I always encourage players to compete as often as they can. To give you an idea of where my game was just a few days before the event, I want you to see the level of confidence and control I had. I played in a local event in Germany called Cash Clash, where everything felt smooth, and I was in top form. But stepping into the Matchroom arena was a completely different story. It’s a clear reminder of how much the environment can impact your game. Playing a Matchroom event isn’t just about skill; it’s about handling the pressure, adjusting to tough conditions, and staying focused. It’s an experience every serious player should aim to have. Cheers, Shari

Great video Sharivari! I’ve been learning a lot from you recently as I’ve started to get into pool. I have one question: I watched your side spin video and was the shot at 10:30 a result of cut induced throw? I saw the shot and I realized that he could’ve played it with a bit of left side spin to make that ball. Am I right on that?

Hi Andrea, you´re right that your safety shots need to be excellent against top players, especially the great jumpers. I thought the shot you played at 16:02 was a little unambitious - even though it was the percentage shot. I thought maybe, with a bit left spin, you could have got the white behind the brown, and still had blockers?
@Sharivari5 ай бұрын
I considered that too risky, using spin off the rail. And if I don't get the safety behind the brown, the three ball is probably in the open, possibly in front of the side.

I had been playing with a wrong eye alignment all the time, i noticed the cueball allways go a little bit to the left. I found the right one but i got so much difficulty getting used to it. Should i keep continue practicing or keep playing with the wrong eye alignment which i am more used to?
@Sharivari5 ай бұрын
With enough repetition, you can adapt to a wrong eye alignment, but it will never feel completely natural. The amount of effort you're willing to invest is key. If you decide to change to the correct alignment, it will improve your consistency and accuracy in the long run. However, expect your performance to dip initially before you start seeing improvements. It will take time and perseverance to fully adjust.

The shot your opponent played at 25:30 was surely crazy? Why didn´t he take it the opposite way where it was almost unmissable?

The only possible reason for that was because he was trying to make it with position on the next ball.

@@Sharivarikicking the other way is much lower % because the 5 ball blocks the ideal angle. He would've had to use english and it's more or less a guessing game at that point. Kind of shocking that he missed the kick the way he did tbh

@@johnholmstrom4212I don't think the five ball was really in the way. If you kick from the lower rail, two rails is the better option anyways (creates better outcomes).

Just watching and hearing your thoughts help me quite a bit even if I am not at that level, it makes me think more, and see how one decides on a shot, or a safety, and how many ways you can get position. I thought it was strange that your opponent was often looking away from he table when you were shooting. Maybe he didn’t want to let your playing get to him?

How does Cash Clash work?
@Sharivari5 ай бұрын
People just come, and the event organizers handle everything. It's for people who are not into gambling. It's not very common here in Germany, and some people wouldn't even know how to organize cash games. Some are even afraid of getting sharked. But regular gamblers are also welcome, and can pretty much play at the event the whole day for a small one time fee.
