45 and really starting to play. That’s cool to hear. I’m 34 and I’m thinking of joining a pool league for the first time. I have a lot of anxiety and sad to admit it’s been quite debilitating and resulted in me completely checking out of society for the past two years. If I join the league it would be my first step in trying to connect with people again One thing thats wonderful about the game of pool for those who struggle with social anxiety, and I’ve noticed this in the pool hall I’ve been going to, is people can be playing for hours and say barely anything to one another. It’s like poker in the way that it can be as social or as anti social as you need it to be without feeling uncomfortable.

@@PriusMike88 We all developed bad habits during the plague over the past few years, living alone and working from home also doesn't help.. I'm 42 and joined a weekly local pub pool comp. It was a good reason to get out of the house and speak with people, it's amazing how much we need regular face-to-face human interaction with different people and to have new conversations to remain sane. I find the pub comps are the best, free pool and a relaxed atmosphere, despite that I don't drink. Also you get to meet a broad range of people from different backgrounds, you can learn their stories.. or not.. or just connect on the mutual love of the game. It's very equalising in that regard, whether they're a lawyer, a brick layer, or an immigrant who hasn't seen their family in 3 years.

@ajschroetlin21963 жыл бұрын
That's usually the hardest part of the shot. It's all about speed. It needs to be soft enough for the spin to pull the ball to the end rail.
@myblacklab72 жыл бұрын
Yeah I winced when I saw that he gave this a difficulty level of "one star." I'm pretty sure that even pros try to avoid having to take this type of shot.

@@myblacklab7 Tuesday night in 9 Ball I scratched on the 9 ball, trying this shot from 1.5 diamonds up the long rail. I was surprised the CB scratched from that far up table. My opponent was happy, however.
@myblacklab72 жыл бұрын
@@garybkatz I actually like Sharivari, but there's a lot of B.S. in most instructional videos for pool - his and others. Sharivari was cool enough to post an actual match he played with a pro - it's an eye-opener. Spoiler alert: He missed a lot. Actually playing a game of pool vs. making a video of oneself showing off are two entirely different animals. For the shot you're talking about, he chose an extremely easy version of it, and he may have scratched eight times before he turned on the camera. You'd have to practice that precise shot in that precise area on that precise table with those exact balls before you could pull it off regularly. Switch the balls, table, position, or even humidity, and you'd be relying on a lot of guesswork, and that's assuming you can hit a millimeter-wide target on the rail. I actually think this is intentionally a joke video. For example: "Just hop the cue ball into the object ball to pocket the object ball as the cue ball jumps off of the object ball, dances on the rail, and rolls back onto the table to perfectly end up in a four inch square area" - LOL! If a pro did that during a tournament, it would make every highlight reel.
@garybkatz2 жыл бұрын
@@myblacklab7 I appreciate all the guys posting tips on pool. Often the tips are helpful, but sometimes they're for entertainment only, such as the example you cited. Also the one about cutting the OB down the long rail into the corner, but the OB is on the wrong side of the side pocket, so it's an automatic scratch. Yet the video demonstrates elevating the cue to make the CB fly off the rear of the side pocket and back onto the table. I won't be trying that one, ha ha!

I'm not one for using all caps in a comment, but THIS WAS THE BEST POOL VIDEO I'VE EVER SEEN!! WOW!! So how did the spin version make the shot?
