Absolutely unjust decision , the fisherman caught the fish whilst conforming and achieving all hurdles to qualify for winner . He can’t be disqualified because of an unknown shark bite. That bite has nothing to do with the sport . If the bite had serendipitously given him an edge . against all other competitors ,that is the only factor that could disqualify him.
@PonyJarCollector Жыл бұрын
Probably needs to be specified when the bite occurred. If the bite is fresh- happened while reeling the fish in- it should be disqualified. If the bite has healed over as a result of wild predation and escape, it needs to be counted

I bet they could contest the the wording of the rule, I doubt this would classify as mutilation you don’t cut your finger and say you mutilated yourself you say you wounded yourself. Mutilation means serious damage this is superficial damage, unless the rules specifically describe what mutilation is you might even be able to contest that it’s even a rule at all if it’s not properly defined.

$3.5M is not a lot of Money by any standard for these tournaments. The boat qualifiers have about 10 people. Then you pay 35-37% taxes. Then you have your expenses. So it looks like this, $2.275,000 post tax, /10 people =$227,500 each. Then your costs. For ocean fishing charter boats it usually costs $150,000-$200,000 for a few weeks of fishing plus tournament entry. Fuel is very expensive. Equipment & time is very expensive. So each person would have likely won $212,500 -. No where near a $3.5MM prize.

That's b*******, they still had the biggest fish. They make those rules on purpose. Because of Marlin being brought up is definitely going to get attacked by a shark. There's no Doubt about it, so they make that rule, so they don't have to pay out the money. There's no way a shark going to turn down a huge Marlin In distress. And the fight takes so long for a big fish. Like that, it's going to get better. You can't not stop it from getting attacked, it's going to happen.

They eat marlins, or anything they can catch really. Open ocean sharks are very opportunistic hunters, so they will eat anything they can get their jaws on! Its not uncommon for fisherman have the catch they're realing in to be attacked and eaten by nearby sharks because they're smart enough to know that its an easy meal. Sometimes sharks will even follow fishing vessels because of it, though Im not sure how common that is.
