The best places to look for them are south of streams that flow into the ocean from inland. The teeth are not coming from the deep ocean. They are being washed out of stream banks and carried to the waves. Inland areas were seabed millions of years ago. When I was a kid, I found all of mine just south of Family Kingdom, and a stream goes right thru it into the waves.

+Jeanne McGowan You are correct. I have found near a hundred right after rainstorms. But they're not really localized, so you have to walk a LOT up and down the beach.

I have been collecting for 2o+ years...I always have much better luck about 2 hours after high tide...when the tide is going out.And the teeth are not always black,I have found many light brown/tan teeth.Happy hunting.

I spent hours and hours as a kid, in Myrtle Beach, walking up and down the beach, early in the morning, looking for teeth....we used to find TONS of them......we stayed at a campground called "Lakewood"......Had the best luck there.......we started using condos when I was a little older, and the teeth weren't nearly as plentiful on that area of beach..... But, I found some real nice ones at Lakewood. (I'm sure it's all different there, now....this was back in the mid 70's to early 80's)....but what great memories.

When I was little I thought I found a bunch of shark teeth( 5 years ago ) and I'm now in Myrtle Beach and my parents told me that my grandparents bought some already and put them infront of us when we weren't looking.

I was out at 2nd Avenue pier today and a lady w her husband had found 511 the day before and had over 300 today she showed me what to look for and I found 8 in about 30 min they are every where I couldn't believe it

Paula Sowers I've found that you can find white teeth with a bit of effort. All you gotta do is do some dedicated digging in one spot about midway from where high tide hits, and you gotta have patience.
