ive been living in coastal florida towns all my life. the problem is that the news tells you every storm is going to kill you and then nothing happens, so people start ignoring the warnings and then when a storm comes along that will actually probably kill you the people dont evacuate and its a disaster.

We did leave our home but upon returning we found everything inside as it was before and only some damage to outside of our house but the worst was driving into a war zone…such devastation was beyond my comprehension! Our neighbors homes were trashed. We were so fortunate that it made us feel undeserving to be one of the lucky. After four years our cities are newer and almost completely restored but the Hurricane and Covid changed everyone…. Only time will tell what the results of the changes are……Whether better or worse.

The title starts with “sharks in the streets”, got my imagination off to the races! With a hurricane, I expect wind damage to homes, trees, plants and roads. I expect storm surges, heavy rains, tornadoes and flood damage. But imagine everything in chaos, debris flung everywhere, water up to the rooftops, nothing looks familiar. Then, add to that, snakes, sharks, jellyfish, alligators, live electrical wires, fire ants, waste water and God knows what else that can kill you in that “lake” that used to be your neighborhood! Then, when all of that drains away, comes the mold, wood rot, decay and diseases that all of that displaced water causes! The hurricane may be gone but it’s still reeking havoc for a long, long time. Unimaginable!
