Man, seeing your old videos really makes me feel some serious nostalgia... I started watching back in 2013-ish (not sure exactly when, but around that time). At that time, I was just starting college, I was on my second year of what would end up being a total of 5 1/2 years of classes. I had never been much of a Japan person, didn't really know much aside from the really mainstream things, like Nintendo, Sushi, and Anime (I didn't even truly watch anime until college). It was at this time that I got my doors opened to Japan, it's culture, it's quirks and beauties, and most importantly, it's when I started to watch J-vloggers on KZbin. The whole Kanada-jin debacle hadn't gone down yet, so I had you guys' entire channel up to that day's worth of content to binge watch every day. I think that the first video I saw was the one in which you ordered pizza from Pizza-La (again, with the now infamous kanada-jin). So even though I don't know you, and in all likelihood never will, and even though I never was in that apartment, or in Japan for that matter. There's a space in my being which will always remember those images, those times... _Sigh_ Fondly. It was an easier time, before the whole growing up thing, and the KZbin drama, and the relationship hardships, etc, etc... My only regret is not having visited Japan at that time, I really wanted to be an exchange student in Japan, at least for half a year, say that so lived there, learn the language. Ah, life, you truly are a harsh mistress without mercy most times...

i love how the tub and toilet are in separate rooms. when i take a bath, i hate thinking that the humidity mixes in with the toilet water... i feel like the molecules can squeeze through the closed toilet lid, and come back and float into my lungs :(

***** The people in high population density countrys are being smart and always conserving water, while we people in say canada or america, are soooooooooooooooooooooo (yes that many o's) wasteful, right now i work at a hotel and the amount of water i see wasted everyday is unbelievable.

***** People in high-density countries like Japan don't conserve because they want to conserve. There is little choice there. A lot of the places that people think are naively "green" are a product of governmental forcing standards on the people. People get LESS of everything and believe it's "good" so they put on a happy face. USA is really cool.

don't want to be a drag... just noticed that the pom pom looking scarf(s) is most likely made out of rabbit fur..I made a similar mistake without realising. You can test the fur by lighting a strand over a flame and seeing if it burns like hair or melts like plastic. Fur farms are very common in asia, and it's best to try and resist buying soft fluffy things you may be unsure of so you don't support the industry.

savagedragon79 So you are for animal torture? Btw, dont connect everyone who is against fur with Peta. I hate fur and everything that buisness do, but I hate Peta as well, because some of those people are insane. Some of them insist my dog should be put down rather than being "my slave". I'm pretty sure the majority of pets around the world are spoiled and happy. Also Im for meat as long as the animals are treated good and have lots of space to roam until they are put down. But fur, is just completely pointless and torture of animals.Maybe you should be put in a coffin sized cage for a few months so you could see how it felt.
@Llcookie44
@Llcookie44 9 жыл бұрын
Haters gonna hate...but animals shouldn't suffer! And exactly....there are many articles online stating how bad Peta can be with certain things. They're an origination that had good intentions but I feel they need to sort themselves out a bit. I make choices in life and I believe in making the best and humane choices for this world. cuz ya know....we're only here for a short time, the very least anyone can do is do good. I never force anything...the best i can do is educate and allow others to make their choices. so what's yours?

+bunny ok Bunny I will explain something that most don't know. I did have a serious problem with this. But I also had a serious problem with my Asthma in Kyoto. The cold there is humid and penetrates so you will need something thicker. However cruelty free. And Japan is right on it in this. It's just that people don't feel the necessity to make a public statement. it is not according for their culture, but neither is harming animals as it is also ingrained in shinto to respect animals. (dolphin slaughter is a whole other topic that can't be contextualized here. Also look up Norway, Denmark and Barbados for that) Many brands sell exclusive items because they can't be mass produced. because they'd have to kill; do meet the demand of over consumption. Many brands use road kill in rural areas with a substantial population. Others use the fur from farms and Islands that preserve said species which die of old age. I bought one item, and the brand makes it a point to tell you who the animal was, how long it lived where the fur came from what it died from and to please honor it's life and fur and take care of it and remember that it won't be replaceable returnable or such because the item as such won't be re produced again. I had an issue with it and decided to find out and was happy to know that more actions are being taken here than the western fashion and fur trade industry.

In Finland we have 3-5 long dish- racks inserted into an ordinary looking cupboard over the sink which kind of keeps everything out of view of eyes and is a very, very genius idea! In the UK there aren't cupboards like that and the very reason why I recently bought my sisters Finland-made, brightly colored dish-mats as Christmas gifts. They sure were very happy about the mats as their washable and dry easily.

Similar styles of apartment are found in the UK and are termed "studio apartments" or "studio flats." Sometimes they'll be purpose-built, other times they'll be converted from rooms in a large house, while in London, it hasn't been unheard of to convert garages into studio flats. Usually they'll dispense with the bath and just have a loo, basin and shower cubicle, often in the same room. Separate loos are sometimes found in older 3-4 bed homes but not so much nowadays (since developers want to squeeze as many homes onto the same plot of land as they can get away with, the internal dimensions of many homes are squeezed, to the extent that many recent developments split 3-4 bed homes over three floors). Still, over here it's unusual to find self-contained dormitories for students - usually they consist of bedrooms only - sometimes with a sink, occasionally en-suite - with separate communal kitchen (and possibly bathroom) facilities. Often the kitchen won't be any bigger than that in a small home, but will have to cater for ~6 students (student flats/houses) or ~30 (traditional dorms).

In America as late as the early 1900's the bath and the toilet were in separate rooms. Many Victorian and Edwardian era homes have that today. It's called a "pullman" like the way they had a sink in one room and toilet in another on trains. I find it specially useful if you live in a house with house-mates. The bathroom isn't always tied up that way.

She said on the video she is in Chiba, I am assuming the city, not the province, which is about 30 minutes away from Ueno, I think, havent been there in years, most people that work/study on Tokyo live in the surrounding cities like that, Chiba has a very small town feeling to it, which most cities surrounding Tokyo have, surprisingly... Her room looks like it is 6 tatamis, which is how they measure room size, each tatami is close to 1x2m, so it would be a 3x6m room~

most people in north america have driers to go along with their washing machine, THAT is what is normal for most families - not all. Once you get used to the convenience of something its a bit annoying to doing things the old fashioned way. Thats just what happens when you travel to other countries, sometimes you have to do things the way you wouldn't usually do it.

Wow! I am loving the Eco-friendly things in there. The toilet room sort of freaks me out since it's so claustrophobic. I would probably just take a shower in the tub and not take a bath after, like you. But the water-recycling is so cool! I don't know if I could live with the small fridge, though. I could deal with the small oven. I guess I always thought a sink had to have 2 bowls- one for soaking/washing, and one for rinsing. But I guess not. But seriously, the U.S. and Canada) needs to update their Eco-friendly technology! That shit is awesome!

You've a nice looking place there, very cool :D Thanks for showing! Oh, they must have interesting types of tea in Japan, eh? Have you found any favourites yet?

I hope so! I will need to find one that accomodates two people, but there seems to be plenty of those online. I have been limited to looking on Sakura House though, because I obviously don't know enough Japanese to look at the other ones. I did try though...

cute place. thank you for videos. I couldn't survive for long though just because I collect too many things. I'm running out of space in my American apt!

cool apt, I like all the neat little differences b/t Japan and Canada. btw I think they sell the hot water things in Canada now, I have Asian friends who have one but maybe they brought it hear with them. I love the eco friendly sink on the toilet and lack of dryer, just wish it was more convenenent in Canada, I never use a dryer (dryer takes a loonie & 3 quarters which I never have) they dry fine but it sucks when friends come over and clothes hanging all over the apt
