Saw her in concert at Treefort Music Fest in Boise last night...haven't seen this magnitude of talent since I saw Sarah Vaughn at the Jazz Fest in 1985 in San Francisco...I've missed this type of soul...thanks Sharon!

Great acting and singing. Dap King on point loving what you guys are doing with the artists. Please don't stop you have true talent on your team and the world will recognize. Make me feel like I'm in the 60s - 70s when the art was original not water down. Feeling young again :)

"Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings" are the bomb! Caught this song on the radio today and called the radio station to find out who was singing it! Good Lord, this girl is on fire! A cross between late 60's soul and R&B and early 70's Motown! Love it! Girl, give us more of what we love! I'm hooked forever! :) Dear Sharon: You are smokin!

Reminds me of when I used to hang out in "Harlem USA" in the early 70's! From the video, I can feel the vibe of the streets, see the brothers and sisters hanging out, and sitting up in the "Baby Grand"listening to songs like these! Thank you, "Sharon Jones, and the Dap Kings" for reminding Black folk of what they are letting slip away! Please, Get well! We need your spirit to guide us back to ourselves. Thank you for posting this great artist!

This woman is amazing! Glad I finally 'discovered' her music! Now, on the Amy & Sharon debate, they might be in the same music category, but they each have different approaches and styles. They have their own signature. In an interview today Sharon said she did have the chance to see Amy & talked about a more candid & shy Amy. She also played with Sharon's band once. She said the thing she regrets was not being able to get to know AW closer or do a song together. That would have been amazing...

This song got an old 1963 Detroit Motown feel to it. It sounds true and real! this is what real R&B soul sounds like. this band is going to be in the music scene for a long time. Their here to stay! Love this song.

I like Vevo. They don't have advertisements that you have to skip because they have advertisements everywhere else. If you can ignore those other ones (which don't even bother me anyways) then it is an ad free way to listen to a bunch of music in one place. I don't see why people hate Vevo so much.

I don't know, they both have similar grains or roots in soul, but yes Amy was a fusion of many different sounds & Sharon is straight 60s/70s classic soul. I feel they are good to compare because Sharon is a straight tribute to the essence of what solid soul music is about, honoring where we've been, whilst Amy is a fusion of many different styles (soul/jazz/hip hop/ a hit of Latin on some of her earlier work if you look for it)... and evolution. Isn't that what music is all about? Discuss ;-)
