It’s really time for us to learn our history and inform ourselves. There is a whole ass chapter called #Asians4BlackLives on West Coast who were consistently supporting Movement for Black lives in Oakland and Los Angeles for years, they raised money, stood on frontlines, supporting BLM from jump. Asian folk have been in solidarity with efforts started by Angela Davis called Critical Resistance and highlighting the prison industrial complex, we have organized with Asian folk against tenant evictions and police brutality in LA and those who consistently show up to the Black Panther breakfasts to show solidarity. @FunkyDineva please educate yourself on these movements and folks like Yuri Kochiyama who held Malcolm X as he died and Grace Lee Boggs legacy of organizing in Detroit Black community where there is a whole center named after her that trains organizers. We have never been able to fight these movements on our own and it’s a myth that they want us to believe we don’t have support so we can stay separated but especially in the Transformative Justice movement to end punishment solutions and come up with community care solutions Asians have been at the forefront. Yes, there are many Asians who discriminate and are silent but it’s false to think we have no history of struggle that continues today with the Asian community. We must stand against AntiAsian hatred and oppression because IS a part of our history and because it IS the right thing to do.

The thing that pisses me off with the slogan “stop Asian hate” is when it comes to black issues we have to include EVERYBODY else under broad inclusive terms such as people of color (POC), BIPOC, socially disadvantaged, black and brown, etc. Even with legislation the few items that do concern us has to be shared with other minority groups but their legislative policies NEVER include Us. They’re allowed to advocate specifically for themselves but if blacks do it, particularly black Americans, then suddenly it’s divisive.

But the expectation that the Black community should use their resources to help is a no go. Especially considering how the Asian community has completely taken advantage of our neighborhoods. And we won't even get on how they have locked us out of the black hair care industry. Hours after the murders in Atlanta NBC put out an article that said, “This is how the Black community can support the Asian community at this time” Something like that. Everyone thinks that Black folks are here to mule for every minority group in America. We don’t even have enough political capital for ourselves. Not to mention economic capital. Speaking of which, the general Asian community is statistically doing better that even WHITES in income and wealth. THEY should be helping US!! But guess what?!! They aren’t expected to GIVE A DAMN. No one calls them to the carpet to do anything for us or anyone else.

The Black Community supports their businesses..... with all of the 'mistreatment', so isn't that enough? And knowing that we're agreeing with the video as a collective,, what's going to change with our community and how we financially support their community.... it is it?
@nickyr38603 жыл бұрын
@@ConnieDione16 I haven’t shopped in an Asian BSS in over a year....you want to know what I really think the answer is? Getting rid of this conditional racial pride that we have. Until we develop a full sense of self and become informed in all that we are, have been through we can’t fully appreciate ourselves. I think we are coming around a bit. We are starting to see how other groups move and work together. How they move AGAINST us most importantly.We are in a unique position as a group and we gotta stop looking outside of ourselves for validation. FULL STOP. We have a culture of consumerism esp in our community so that drives the mindless buying of goods from anyone, everywhere too.
