Love the channel Brian, recently came across it a few weeks or so ago. Funny how you and Shane are local to Value. Small world, you guys are lucky to still have a proper high end AV brick and mortar retailer so close. I'm about 30mi from them in NJ. I have a number of thoughts on this... Sharp used to make the best early gen LCDs when everyone else's sucked when the Plasmas were untouchable back in the day, we had one of their 32" 720p LCDs a 2004 model, thing lasted forever. Sharp then did well with early gen LEDs around 2009-2010ish, those 55-70" Aqous' were arguably best in class at the time before the brand died shortly after in a rapid collapse. They were essentially finished by 2013. But let's be candid here, this reboot is as much a "Sharp" as the fake Funai Philips in the US are Holland Philips'. This is an LG, with a junk US Funai Philips 7900 RokuTV exterior with the Sharp name slapped on it, nothing more. As much as I hate to say it but that's what this appears to be. Shame COVID killed HK TP Vision Philips OLED line from coming here as announced at CES a couple years back. Those are phenomenal TVs befitting of the Philips label with the Holland folks involved in that project, but no US offering, just Europe. Or even the new Toshiba Regza OLED XL9900 which is fully loaded feature wise instead of this sad "Sharp" effort. Lack of HDR10+ or IMAX Enhanced they get big L's on, but no surprise given aforementioned partners, so it's obvious they put minimal effort into the HDMI board/firmware other than cosmetic. You have 95% of Amazon's HDR library is 10+ exclusively for dynamic and often see new 4K movies avail to rent on Apple TV+, some DV some 10+, Hulu, Paramount, Google both, NF DV only, Disney DV and IMAX Enhanced. So you ideally want both with the coexistence stability now a days. Another problem too is no dts support. Which at this price point (1600) you get a lot of sound bar users that rely on the TV as a switcher so no dts audio over return channel support, only Dolby. FWIW there are way more HDR10+ titles than DTS:X titles anyway, so if you had to pick one, in 2024 you'd want an HDR agonistic panel as sound can be upgraded with hardware addons. But such is the pathetic state of the US OLED market, way too many frustrating compromises here and there. Vizio's 2020/2021 OLED offering are all sold out long gone, so hopefully they update it or TCLs OLEDS are ready soon. European buyers don't have to make these compromises with the Philips and Panasonics available to them. At least with a Samsung you can get Low Latency DV with an HDfury Arcana for DV content played off a Zidoo box or UHD BD player. I use one on my S95B 55" and LLDV works like a charm. But format support aside, anyone who knows anything about TVs IMHO knows the ultimate cinephile reference TVs are the 65" Panasonic OLED flagships year after year. Panasonic is the brand we really need back in the US. They do issue a small bespoke quantity available as QC/client ref monitors for professional post production and UHD BD authoring houses in the US but good luck getting Panasonic of NA in Newark to sell a one off to an end user for entertainment ain't gonna happen. I had to import mine from Canada new just as they were leaving the Canadian market in Feb 2020 2 weeks before COVID. GZ2000C 65". I'm eyeing the 77" MZ2000 though. They are truly the best, importing via air freight and running it with a HQ stepdown transformer or better yet having your electrician wire you a 220 outlet will top anything Sony or LG sells here now at 65", I know the 77 size isn't MLA, but Panasonic's modified WRGB OLED and HCX processing is god tier. For 1600 I'll take a mid-tier Samsung QD-OLED with an Apple TV and HDfury anyday over the FrankenSharp. 🙃
@GE0RGEJetson10 ай бұрын
It seems the 65” XLED is being offered at fire sale prices. My alarm bell is going off. Is it smarter to buy now that their reputation took a hit at the shootout and hope it was a fluke or that updates can address it? Or to wait until they’ve gone back to the drawing board and fixed the problems by releasing a mkII sometime later i n 2024? On paper it’s got the features the X93L lacks, particularly a robust processor upscaling for streaming content.

It's nice that you show they exist and they are still trying. I was excited for them last year but that puttered out completely with the shootout. Now I have less trust in it. Also they still aren't putting an effort in to really push into the market. You're literally the only one that has any footage of it and no one knows or even remember they are there at all. I don't know what Sharp is thinking? The XLED is clearly the exact same model again this year. So now it's basically behind as well. It's more or less only Sony for me with the new Backlight. Maybe the 8K Samsung if their upscaling is amazeballs. But that is only if Sony doesn't have anything. Same with QM8 and U8N. That said the QM8 got a big upgrade, basically doubling of last years QM8. That said, did they fix the issues from last year and improved processing?

I don't see any blooming on our Sharp FS1 OLED TVs that we have on display in our two A/V showrooms.

Blooming isn't possible on an oled my friend. It's simply the camera and being in a room that's super bright. The Xled actually has very good local dimming
@valueelectronics939010 ай бұрын
All ^ true, and blooming can also be caused by our own visual capability. The main item here is that all OLED display technology is emissive, (so individual pixel luminance and color control), vs all LCD based "Transmissive Displays" that have LCD backlighting to generate the luminance and color rendering and then 8.3 million LCD opening and closing doors are in-front of thee several hundred, or in rare cases a couple thousand backlight zones, whereas an OLED emissive display has 8.3 million individual and perfectly controllable tiny lights.

There was no online review, social media was NOT for tech. PPL didnt know. It was out there, but most ppl didnt know. SONY started up Selling MASSIVE amount of PREMIUM LED , they produced 😮0 unit😮 they were produced by SHARP. SONY stop using SHARP panels. That’s when LED went down d Drain. Washed out, ugly . That’s when they banished LED reputation . SONY LED. N they STOLE SHARP’s potential customers. D ppl super royal to SONY HIGH end LEDs , they have no idea they are into SHARP. Hisense bought sharp Tv brand, then sharp bought itself back. So Hisense n SHARP can potentially MORE like Original SONY color in 2011 2012. PPL HAVEN NO idea lol. 😂😂😂

@@Yoga_Tv_buying You are seriously wrong on some points. Sharp makes LCD panels that anyone like Samsung or Sony can buy. Sharp can also use its own LCD panels for its own TVs. TV manufacturers have to supply separate backlights for the LCD panels. They could be CCFL, edge-lit LED, full array local dimming LEDs, mini-LEDs, or some other backlight technology. What is known as a “LED” TV is really a LED-backlit LCD TV. Also, Sharp Quattron LCD TVs passed through red and green light through their yellow sub pixels since the LED backlights provided red, green, and blue light, but did not provide true yellow light as measured by a spectrophotometer. Also, the yellow sub pixel signals had to be created somewhere since the source material has zero yellow channels, much like how LG WOLED panels require white sub pixel signals to be created somewhere for those panels’ white sub pixels. The gains from having a yellow sub pixel in a Quattron are limited by having no true yellow LED backlight or pixel-level backlights. A WOLED has self-emitting OLED backlights that can dim or light on demand, so it can direct the colored sub pixels to dim and let the white sub pixel run much more efficiently and brightly than the colored sub pixels could ever do since the colored sub pixels had their light go through color filter which made them inefficient and dim. Furthermore, Sony at one point did manufacture LCD panels through a joint venture with Samsung known as S-LCD. Sony got into serious financial trouble and had to sell its stake in S-LCD to Samsung, so S-LCD was renamed as Samsung Display. Also, Sharp sold its North and South American TV brand, sales network, and a Mexican factory to Hisense because Sharp was losing lots of money at that time. Hisense abused the Sharp brand to sell junk tier TVs while selling acceptable budget tier TVs using Sharp’s former Americas sales networks in order to replace Sharp’s brand name with its own and prevent Sharp from competing in the Americas once the Sharp brand licensing deal expired in 5 years. Once Foxconn bought Sharp out, Foxconn sued Hisense to regain the Sharp brand due to breach of contract, but then Foxconn eventually bought the Sharp brand back from Hisense after dropping the lawsuit. However, Hisense still has the Mexican factory and the old Sharp sales networks. Also, the old Sony LCD HDTV that I bought several years ago still looks a lot better than the Sharp HDTV that my father bought a few years after that but before Hisense bought Sharp Americas and wrecked it. That Sharp TV is also a compatibility headache because Sharp never licensed Dolby Digital (AC-3) Audio for the non-antenna ports unlike Sony did while the Dolby Digital patent was still active, so that TV has problems when something tries to send AC-3 audio to any of that TV’s ports other than the antenna port. This has caused audio problems with audio receivers, cable boxes, and other audiovisual devices. My old Sony HDTV never has those problems since Sony paid up to fully license its digital inputs while the patent was active. Modern TVs accept Dolby Digital audio because the patent is expired.

Sharp is gonna have a qd-oled, n they won some awards in a oled competition last year, n there really going for high brightness, they added a heatsink plus more heat dissapation tech, there tryna counter ABL. So looks like they will be brighter then s95d n they wont have no matte display or one connect box, plus they have good quality low bitrate content unlike samsung. Seems like a no brainer if they deliver, we need some competition, samsung ruined the best tv out there with the one connect and the matte display really beat it to death, plus there holding back on brightness way too much. As long as its 144hz and low input lag, n same color volume as samsung, they win easily.

RokuTV OS - pass for me:) It may be another great TV as Panasonic, but same as FireTV OS... closed ecosystems, with very limited usability (dead their own app stores) - thanks but NO. Either LG or Samsung with decent developed OS ecosystems, or Android-Google TV
