I was down town and stumbled into a charity shop, I enjoy reading and wanted to see what books they had. After looking around, seen a little box packed with books. It was a box full of Sharpe books, the entire box was £7 and I give the shop keeper £20 for them. Audio book is very good. Hakeswell couldn't have been played more perfectly in the series, exactly like he really is, so similar to the book it's an incredible performance.

I love these stories. Bernard knows how to make a mess get you mortified even outraged then tie it all together into proper screeching atonement. I have binged all of them 3 times thru in the last few years. Its much better to let your mind paint the characters and settings. My eyes like it better than tv as well.

As a high school student I worked in a public library for pocket money. I used to shelve the sharpe series often along with the flashman series. I always thought what crap this must be. Then I got into Hornblower and naturally came across Sharpe again. Both are phenomenal series and I’ve heard a lot about flashman too so I hope to get into that one day.

Cornwell really brings history to life, making it equatable to the average person! He's been soft on the horrors of colonialism and it's abuses, but it truly was a different cultural time, and the English weren't Mongols! LoL! Mostly?

The difference in volume between the shouting portions and the normal speaking is just to the point of being unpleasant no matter how you listen to it. Either you lower the volume so the shouting is an ok volume and the speaking is now too quiet or you raise it to hear the speaking at a normal level and now this shouting is way too loud. How does nobody who produces a fucking audio book understand the concept of volume normalisation.

I'm surprised how badly things are mixed up in the short time of this YT-short. Especially comming from this Channel. Almost every latest discussion over reparations in regard to Germany, want to held the german STATE accountable. Most modern states actually do claim/are accountet to be in some form of historic, political and legal tradition of some preceding political construction (old kingdoms, old republics or some old duchy which today is part of the states territory). And soldiers killed in action, normally are not seen as crime on its own. Only maybe if the war is seen as illegal, like a "illegal" war of aggression. Reparations are a complex topic, where details matter, and this YT-short butchers the topic to the degree of meaninglessness.

When a book says someone yells or screeches, a good narrator will get into character and read in different volumes and in different accents. If you don't want a good narrator, maybe read a physical book.
