This knife might fairly be called a "sleeper"; or maybe a small masterpiece in the Spyderco lineup which has been mostly flying beneath the radar Stateside of the 'pond'. I'm really pleased I pulled the trigger on one of the last few pieces still available on Amazon about two weeks back. I note that prices are already rising for the last few still listed on a certain auction web site. It's my new 'go-to', circa 2-ounce-and-under category EDC blade. It took less than 10 seconds for any lingering misgivings about a non-locking blade to evaporate... so confidence inspiring is this improved implementation of an already unique Spyderco Slip-it design concept. I agree completely! The Urban has been a fav of mine for quite some time in N690. However adding the K390 to it is just the best idea anyone ever had haha! I'd probably call this my favorite knife of last year honestly, especially when you factor in it was only $60. Killer. The smaller slipjoints out in the world cover 95% of the bases people need for edc. I really only carry locking folders when outdoors, adventuring, or at work. The rest of my life I like a nice capable slip joint. Rock on and thanks for watching!

Hi, Ranger Jon. Just a little update. I picked up a Spy-DK when I found 'em listed "grab it" cheap under an odd listing mentioning "Byrd" by name [?!]; so I made a multiple purchase. The price went up by about 43% the next day, ha, ha... I like this addition for the safety orange scales, minimalist construction (like the Urban), pretty good cutting edge length for 1.90 ounces, super pointy point, and most of all, for the corrosion resistant N690co -- which makes it nicely complementary to my K390 Urban Leaf for sweaty summer activities and messing about in small boats. Probably as "Salt" as I'd really need, I'm guessing, given a sensible end of the day flush & clean up. Also, I'm still very pleased with my Factor Iconic Compact (2.98 ounces, recently measured -- nice). I owe you the credit for a heads up on that one, Jon, so thanks again. It slots in nicely for me between a small, capable Lionsteel T.R.E. G10 (orange!) -- M390, natch' -- and a dark green Spyderco Stretch in ZDP-189. The latter is the only Spyderco I've tested on which I can pull off all the Spydie hole deployment tricks (with a bit of wrist flick assistance) -- fun -- and I'm in the love the looks camp. Nice! I like M4, never tried K390. They are so much easier than the s90/s110v carbide madness steels. That was a crisp edge, guided system? If freehand, well done! Side Note: Can you fly drones in Florida state parks/beaches? We are going back to Florida in a few months and I don't want any trouble. Illinois, where I live, is super relaxed and you can fly anywhere but near airports, jails and federal parks.

Thanks Toxicity! K390 has kind of seemed like M4 "Plus" to me so far. I really really enjoy it and find it is a bit more corrosion resistant as well. I don't mess with those crazy "s#" steels like s90v and s110v so much regardless. Doing what I do in Florida stainlessness is important but I find those steels don't hold up well when being pushed. The edges seem to collapse and/or tear out on me before they roll or chip just a little. So for stainless I like S35vn, s30v, N690 even. 204p and M390 have quickly become my perfect and most favorite steel. Just absolutely amazing in all categories as far as a balanced high edge retention steel that's no problem to sharpen up. Thanks for the compliments on the edge! haha, I wish I could get em that crisp freehand. Not yet. I had it VERY sharp freehand but it wouldn't quite top through the hairs just under their own weight so I slapped it on the KME, added the sharpening choil, and really took the edge to that extreme level that it is at now. It just gets suuuuper sticky sharp. Literally just feels sticky. so great. As far as drone laws in parks, not to be rude or anything but I can't really get into any of that stuff publicly or confirm or deny which agency or department I work for whether it is county, state, federal, etc. Sadly that's the way it has to be if I want to be on youtube! lol. I would just say call the park you're going to or any parks within the same agency and ask them. County and City operate pretty indepently. However State and Fed levels try to keep their rules and regs in line with each other so that the larger scale parks and lands have a consistent message. Always a good idea to check ahead for each specific place you will be going. I will say that in Florida no matter what level of parks or places youre going to go to, there are alot of laws against drones here in coastal areas in general. They really mess with nesting shorebirds and marine birds equilibrium etc. Hope that helps!
