Sand is going to get in any folding knife made, so not really a knock on this knife. If i were cutting that much rope in a day id definetly buy a fixed blade in one of the high end steels...k390 being right at the top with magnacut, 15V, Maxamet, cru-wear and on and on.

That "english green" one, is that not cadet grey in colour? I have several Ganzo 729, those are PM2 clones, in cadet grey. Cadet grey is known as well as "confederate grey". The lighting conditions in the video sometimes give a green hue and then again and rather cadet grey colour. I chose cadet grey (which is very similar to "light slate grey") since that colour is about the best to hide dust and dirt. As I live in an hot and dusty and dirt particles climate, I adjusted the colours to hide best any dust. Black gets quickly looking dirty and so does obviously orange. I have a few in darker green of these Ganzo 729 models as well which is a very nice colour but I have no idea how quickly it will look dirty. Specially ashes in the air from burning wild fires are visible on an darker handle so cadet grey is by far the best colour. I never saw my cadet grey knife dirty but my black handle knives have all indentures in the scales full of whitish dust/sand which is noticeable and looks bad. The Ganzo 729 has an edge grind angle of 17.5 degrees as I just measured it. Exactly as the Spyderco PM2 original. These Paramilitary 2 are the best cutters in the word and as well the Ganzo 729 cuts 3 times better than the flat grind DuraTech knife which has an 23 degrees of edge angle. The blade geometry of the PM2 and Military leaf blade makes all the difference. These Ganzos 729 are in 440C steel, 58 HRC and cost around 22$. They have the McHenry-Williams lock, aka Axis Lock which I prefer over the compression or liner lock by far.

As long as you're not flexing it or running your thumb across it, it's like it's not even there. You'll forget about it eventually. It really probably just doesn't make sense to have to mill the whole scale just for a little lip that probably wouldn't hold up though the milling process without breaking. The flex is good. Otherwise it would crack. Most things will break though, if you try and break them.

@@DeffoZappo very tough. I like the sage a lot, but prefer the sage 2 and sage 1 over the 5. The native definitely represents a cost savings and value proposition but I’d say the sage 5 is overall a nicer knife, but you’re paying for the full steel liners, compression lock, etc. I think I prefer the blade shape on the native myself, as well as the additional steel options. Nothing wrong with s30v tho.

Casio is my go-to and favorite watch brand, this is one of my favorite watches. It’s on the upper limits of case dimension for my wrists but other than that and the lume it’s a perfect dive watch, especially for the price. Batman version for me, with a Stainless Steel Bracelet from Long Island Watch. It reminds me of a nice Seiko or Citizen after the bracelet upgrade, and I also got the Citizen Promaster “Unite the Blue” Special Edition one of my favorites as well. Another really really good watch I find in my rotation this Fall/Winter is my Casio Edifice EFB-S108D with the white/stainless dial, it’s a great sporty alternative to the PRX. 👌🏼 I love my Casio W800H as well, negative display, leather strap from Vario. It’s what started my collection a year a half ago, for $20. 🖤

To avoid any issues with setting the date just follow the directions included in the manual. Avoid setting the date between the hours of 8:00PM and 2:00AM. I normally set the date to the previous day and then rotate the hands until the date moves ahead to the correct date at midnight and then set the time. That way I know that I have the watch correctly in either AM or PM.

It’s not that big of a deal to put it back together. Any of the FRN Seki city knives can all be put back together with the same trick. You simply put the knife together with the lock and everything in place as if you were finished with it BESIDES the standoff closest to the pivot and you press down the lock and then slide in the standoff. Done. To easy.

To answer your question about why a lot of people would rather Wear a G-Shock than a dive watch, mostly it's aesthetics, but some people just prefer a digital watch. They are more easily and immediately readable, at least for some people. You think that an analog watch face is inherently better if that's just what you prefer. If it's a dive watch versus an analog G-Shock, then I guess it is purely just down to aesthetics in that case

I wear mine for wet occasions: fishing, swimming (including snorkeling), sailing, kayaking. No issues. I also wear it hunting because the large face/hands are easy to see in low light; even without much lume. I'm color-blind but have great low-light vision. My Every Day Wear is a Hamilton Khaki King II (also bracelet) and for working/painting/logging I have my trusty (and also extremely accurate) Seiko Solar 100M. @rangerjonoutdoors6429
@rangerjonoutdoors6429 5 ай бұрын
@@holdernewtshesrearin5471 I’d say all of the above! I think with the edge stability the k390 has, the thinner blade stock is nothing to worry about and you get the benefit of being way slicier. It’s also only 3oz in weight vs almost 4 on the stretch. I’ve been getting more and more weight conscious of my edc these days and it’s making a nice difference in my comfort day to day. I also find the blade shape on the Endela a little better for slicing/cutting, the large flat section on the stretch can go unused sometimes for me. If you take out the forward choil ( which I love) the overall cutting edge is very close on the two blades also. I don’t see a lot of downsides to the Endela honestly besides “harder use”, but even that on a back lock frn spyderco needs to be within reasonable expectations. Still an AWESOME knife, but I really find myself close to pulling the trigger in the Endela many times now. It seems like it’s in a really good spot in every spec, especially because I find the delica just too small for me personally.
@holdernewtshesrearin5471
@holdernewtshesrearin5471 5 ай бұрын
@rangerjonoutdoors6429 - Roger that. Basically, I'm looking for the sliciest blade I can get in K390. The size of the knife isn't that important nor the weight. Anything in the 2.7" to 3.4" blade size is fine so either the delica, endela or the stretch will work fine for me and as long as it's less than 5 ounces I'm good. I just want a super thin edge in K390, good ergonomics and a strong, reliable one hand operable lock and a smooth action. I have a native-5 fluted titanium and love it so I'm good with Spyderco back locks. The native is also my smallest Spyderco and I like that size for EDC though I generally carry larger blades. One of my manix-2s is my go-to standard EDC along with another blade more suited to whatever tasks I'm doing that day. Larger tacticsls if going in harms way, smaller gentlemens folder if doing office work or going to dinner etc or anything in between to handle various tasks. The main thing is the steel. I'm fascinated by the K390 and want a knife that will get the most out of it so in my mind, a smaller (about 3") blade, light to medium duty knife fits the bill. The delica seems to call to me the loudest as of now. Plus I love that slate blue handle!

Sorry bout the length of this message, but we’re talkin bout my favorite steel of all time!! Swear to God I wouldn’t trade my K390 Stretch for any 3 knives made with Magnacut. And idc who makes the knives, how much they cost, how hard they are to get, or what the HRC is on their MC…I wouldn’t trade 3 for 1. If we’re being totally honest, K390 blows the doors off MC in every way (except stainless) even when MC is hardened higher. K390 is that good, especially when it comes to edge retention, ease of sharpening, and how sharp it truly gets. And where I live in Cincinnati, my K390 knives don’t even patina even though I use the heck out of them for everything, so they certainly don’t rust. I’ve collected knives for 40 years and without a doubt I’ve found nothing even close that compares to K390 for an overall EDC knife. Don’t get me wrong, MC is a great steel, but most knife customers have yet to see its full potential because not many knife companies’ heat treatment vendors are hardening it to it’s recommended 63-64 HRC. I have a custom EDC in MC @ 64.3 HRC, and again it does not come close to out performing any K390 knife I have, especially up against my Stretch or Delica. And the blade geometry on my custom in MC is almost identical to my Stretch. It may sound like I’m a MC hater, but that’s nowhere near correct. It’s just that MC shouldn’t even be used in the same sentence as K390! 👍👍

Before the stretch 2 I heavily favored my BM 940 and Demko AD-20 sharksfoot simce they were still usuable with glove but I had to sharpen them about once a month and they arent as usuable as the stretch 2 with gloves. Amazing to me honestly because i bought it since it was a inexpensive k390 knife not expecting much more then experience with k390 but it has been in my pocket when working for a year now and only ever had to hit it with a ceramic rod and strop.... and its hair popping sharp again. I got a little trick it's pretty easy to reassemble now. You almost reassemble the whole knife except let the back lock bar stick out and then you shove it in and push the threaded secondary pivot in at the same time
