I live in Europe in one of the more developed regions of a poor member of the European Union. I often talked with tourists from all over Europe and the world in tourist camps, with local hunters and with foreigners at various working dog competitions. I am engaged in fishing and cycling and kayaking, I have also worked in marinas and in hotels where there were many rich guests, personally, I have been riding motorcycles for a long time and I hang out with owners of old timer vehicles, but I very rarely come across owners of spyderco knives, except for a few who mentioned that they have them at home. The only time I had it in my hand was when it was offered to me as a gift, and it was a dented, quite old and rare copy, but I chose something else for the very reason that it seemed too gentle for a brute like me. My question would be, do you often get more expensive copies which the owners usefully use on a daily basis or are only collector's items. I agree with the sharpening method all the way. No jamming. Very cool to have you here all the way from Croatia 🇭🇷! I actually have been to your country once on vacation while I was on a Mediterranean cruise, very beautiful place! To answer your question, I have sharpening customers on both sides of the spectrum, it’s probably 75% use 25% just collect. And I actually have had quite a few people send me multiple of the same knife model to sharpen. I am a huge Spyderco fan and in online Spyderco groups so that’s why I get alot of them in for sharpening. They are some of the best user knives money can buy! 👊🏼😁

So, do you go straight down to 13 per side, or do you work your way down from whatever.

Great question, I actually addressed this in the last “tips” video on reprofiling. Id highly encourage you to check that out and go through my sharpening playlist where I put all my sharpening tips and tutorials. But the short answer is that I work my way down after I get the heel sharpened all the way and profile even and symmetrical. If 13° is my end goal or even 12°, ill start a couple degrees higher around 15-16°. If its a knife other than spyderco or something im not as familiar with I’ll typically start close to whatever it was sharpened at from the factory, maybe a couple degrees lower but it kinda depends on the test passes and how much I need to correct the profile. The last video I did on it explains it better though.
