I bought the chaparral and it is my first Spyderco. The feel, look, handling and sounds really are difficult to describe but all i can say is they are special. I truly love my chaparral and I also have a yojimbo 2 coming and I feel i am going to have a great life with these 2 Spyderco's!!!

I got a sage 5 instead but I also got a yojimbo 2 coming 🤣 it was this or the sage 5 and idk I wanted the sage. My native in magnacut beats the xhp steel imo so 🤷 the sun/moon version of the Chaparral is really 😎 tho I wish I got one of these but I love the sage 5 and it's very similar. Both are discontinued now 😔 😢 but. Idk I think they'll drop more of them in the future. I mean lil native or This and id go 20 cv over xhp imo but that's me idk 🤷‍♂️

Really glad you like the knife mate, Told you it was sharp, FYI that's a 13,000grit finish off my edge pro apex. Looking forward to the cut testing. Shameless plug but I do sharpen the odd knife for people on the side.... Happy to see the raffle win go your way.

I just got a Chaparral last week.It has the sharpest factory edge I have encountered so far.I adjusted the pivot screw and my knife flicks open with a quick thumb snap.Great little knife that should handle most of my cutting requirements.Thanks for another great video!

I love this review... funny thing is when I 1st looked at it I was thinking MMnnaaaaa! Not interested another leaf shape lockback ... then they came out with a Raffir Noble... so I bought one with the cool scales... when I started to carry it and use it I was “amazed” at the performance of this little knife. Great review... I also really dig this knife!

It's my all time favorite knife for urban EDC, i simply LOVE this knife ! The edge length is just enough, even for food prep ! The Chaparral with FRN handle is coming out this year, can't wait for it !

Agreed. This is my favorite folder for urban EDC and gentleman's carry. Very non-threatening and classy in any urban setting. In fact, I own two of these: The CF version and the Titanium (which is even sexier). I prefer this over my Sage and virtually all my other Spydercos.

I've thought about buying one of these for a while. It's silly, but I'm just not a huge fan of the shiny CF. It might make a good secondary knife to a full sized fixed blade on hiking and camping trips.

I've had a Chappy and you are right, it's an extremely good slicer and upscale EDC. It's almost a shame that I don't have need for such a knife...

I have it at 13° per side and it's the sharpest thing I have as well.. But it could be little bit thinner behind the edge.. From factory comes at .010 ,I can imagine it to be half of that🙏 but still best slicer I have as well

Sharpest knife I have out of the box is the TRM Viator slipjoint. Scary sharp.

What did your friend use to sharpen that? Looks very much like a guided system edge, finished with the strops or lapping films.

John Bowen I used a edge pro apex with sigma power select II stones up to 13000 Grit. Then finished with a roo leather strop & 0.5micron diamond paste.

Luck to score that Chaparral off 2 tickets!! Jealous... I love the Chaparral...the shape and size and mainly the thinness of the blade... I feel like if it had a compression lock it would be perfect... the back lock makes it not as easy to flick open and close one handed smoothly... Btw.. Do you actually EDC knives? Im in Sydney and am scared to get charged or even have a nice knife confiscated... everyone Ive asked in Australian forums has no reponse... no one seems to know whats allowed... Legally its not allowed... but Ive known one older gentleman from the country whos carried a buck style lock back all his life... proudly on his waist...Not an issue for him...

I handled both at the Sydney knife show and I bought the chaparral, but that doesn't mean that it would suit you better. I can say these Spyderco's are special. I handled quite a few after not being a fan due to their awkward looks and non traditional designs. The feel and sounds and movements really are special and I am now a fan. I have a yojimbo 2 coming and I don't plan to buy anymore Spyderco's but as I said they really have something special about them...
