@kfeltenberger2 жыл бұрын
I really like this technology but given that Sharrow's website says they have props for inboard drives, I would really like to see how these impact the performance on something in the 50-60' range or thereabouts. Outboards are fine...and if that's all they're going to focus on, that's ok. But if they offer something for an inboard, I think it would be a good test to see how it works on a distance cruiser or express cruiser.

I realize these are expensive but how does the pricing compare to any high-end custom props out there? Seems to me the engineering is solid and the pricing just needs to come down for the wider market to benefit from them. If Sharrow can score a deal with outboard OEM or even boat manufacturer to make an optional or upgrade prop for their most popular models that would be huge for this design.
@alanploetz71002 жыл бұрын
I like the idea of the greater efficiency, both speed and fuel burn. Unfortunately, I'm not sure I'd get sufficient fuel efficiency to make up for the initial cost of the Sharrows ove the life of the engines.
@flacjacket Жыл бұрын
The question isn't whether they would pay for themselves in fuel savings, it's whether the fuel savings would adequately defray the costs to the point you can justify it for the improvement in NVH, speed, time to plane, and low speed maneuverability and range. When you are spending $300k on a boat then $10k may be worth it even without the fuel savings for those other improvements.

Whats the story on a diesel outboard with Sharrow.? ultimate range?
@besearchingforwisdom62672 жыл бұрын
The Sharrow props have 6 blades effectively, and clearly more effective, and while the surface area of the blades are not apparently larger, the efficiency matches an increase in blade numbers. I would be interested in a test comparing the sharrow to a four five or six blade prop including the costs of each type. Good show
@w8stral Жыл бұрын
Uh, no: Most efficient, would be a single blade... but due to balance this is not a good option. One only needs more blades when one starts being impacted by cavitation due to excessive RPM to diameter ratio. So, lower the RPM and you will always be better, but this also makes a propeller with a lower optimum range of thrust. There is no free lunch. Sharrow propellers effectively eliminate the vortice loses and also increase the angle of attack effective at the tips so one delays cavitation at the tip while maintaining thrust. This is an ENORMOUS loss standard propellers have which it does not and why at mid range one sees the largest improvements as this loss is delayed significantly.

@qiaozhang8321 Жыл бұрын
pricing incorrectly, this is just a simple item made of steels, once a model is set up (with CAD), massive production can be made easy.. The high price is blocking majority from buying it. If it is priced at fifteen instead of fifty, many will buy, and most of us will find it not worth it as it does not seem to help, thus causing lots of negative comments everywhere. Therefore, the pricing strategy is, selling for very high, only a few buys, for those who bought it, they will not admit their wrong decision.
@paulswagelock59862 жыл бұрын
I call BS. Look at the original review of the Robalo 302 from Boattest. In that article it showed 3500 rpm was 31 mph, but in this “comparison video” you claim the standard props only produce 21 mph at 3500 rpm and the special Sharrow pop does 31. Were you wrong back then or now……..
@ekbusdriver2 жыл бұрын
This is my only issue with these tests. Nobody, and I mean nobody, pushes the rpm’s to 3500 and hopes the boat will get on plane. Power up on plane and then come back to the rpm you want, and I want to see the Sharrows tested like that. I believe they are more efficient, just not as much as these tests show.
@davygravy7332 Жыл бұрын
@@ekbusdriver I like the concept of getting rid of the propeller tip vortex, but it looks to me like a modified 6 bladed propeller, and that should be more efficient. If there is less slip at RPM then you are accelerating the water faster which equates to more thrust. Moving the water at a higher rate also reduces the drag imposed on the boat, does not pull the stern of the boat down into the water as much, this would alow the boat to plane at a lower speed. But more blades are not as efficient at high speed.
