some green paint on the road is not safe bike infrastructure
@maxrburgessАй бұрын
I don't think it's supposed to be.
@zacw4480Ай бұрын
It’s been proven that sharrows are not safe for cyclists. It’s a short cut to make it appear as that you’re building cycle infrastructure. It seems like you’re using this as an excuse to put speed bumps on residential streets where they are not needed.
@xaiano794Ай бұрын
It's to encourage cyclists to take the centre of the lane, something they can already do and should be doing. But yes, it changes nothing and isn't cycle infrastructure
@godooffme7747Ай бұрын
@@xaiano794 cyclist should never take the center of the lane, it just makes it harder to overtake them
@xaiano794Ай бұрын
@godooffme7747 OK now I'm certain you don't know how to drive. Road positioning is something you learn early on when learning to drive and it applies to cars just as much as it does to cyclists.

@@xaiano794 cyclists shouldn't be on the road, and definitely shouldn't be in the middle where it's harder to overtake them I know for certain you don't have a license, otherwise you wouldn't defend cyclists being on the road.
@xaiano794Ай бұрын
@godooffme7747 I'm a professional driver and have been for many years, if you struggle to safely pass a cyclist then you aren't a competent driver, period. Any competent driver knows that cyclists are easy to negotiate exactly because they travel slowly, it means that the time taken to pass them is short, the joke is that people like you who are not competent drivers constantly campaign to take cyclists off roads and put them in cars, more cars to hold you up, more cars to cause more traffic, to delay your journeys. It's kind of comical that you're such an incompetent driver that you would actually want to cause more traffic.

0:08 never understood why the give way sign is point down, but your sharks teeth are point up.
@xaiano794Ай бұрын
There are no sharks teeth, those have a different meaning. They are to warn of a speed bump and illustrate the change in height
@elongated_muskrat_is_my_nameАй бұрын
the give way sign is the other way up so you can recognise it even if it's snowed over or you can barely see it

Why do they ask bike users to indicate a turn when they move towards the center of the lane they occupy? With 1.5m minimum distance (2m outside cities) including the side mirrors, any car would need to properly change lanes to overtake a bike just like overtaking a motorcycle.

How the heck does a bit of paint on the road make the road "way safer"??
@xaiano794Ай бұрын
Because before people overtook bikes on roundabouts and caused accidents
@lukyboi999Ай бұрын
So by your logic, I guess we can remove the markings on the highway too? Since a bit of paint apparently doesn't do anything...
@maxrburgessАй бұрын
It encourages cyclists to move to the centre of the lane
@godooffme7747Ай бұрын
@@xaiano794 maybe just remove the bikes from the roundabouts? It sounds like they are going way too slow.
@xaiano794Ай бұрын
@godooffme7747 I find it strange that you are admitting that you can't deal with vehicles travelling different speeds, you don't sound like a very competent driver. Do you have a licence at all?

Bikes don't belong on roads.

Why do you think that? I have never been stuck behind a bike for more than 60s before I could safely pass, I've been held up by cats for far, far longer than that. I mean do you really struggle to pass bicycles? Is that something you find extremely difficult?

@@xaiano794 what are you even talking about? You realize that there are women driving that refuse to pass anything, ever? And most cities in Europe are badly designed so there is no place to overtake a car inside the city. Bikes create long lines of traffic, usually don't know the road rules because they can't even get a car license, and their speed and weight is closer to a pedestrian.
