Shashi Tharoor's critique of Interim Budget- 'No Data Available (NDA) to New meaning of GDP'

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor criticised the Interim Budget on February 7, 2024. He argued that the government's approach to "trickle-down economics" involves spending money at the top level by increasing capital expenditure annually. Tharoor further explained that the NDA (National Democratic Alliance) provides no data to reveal the true situation of poverty and consumption in the country, leading to a statistical void that makes it difficult to judge the poverty situation. He called for a "mid-course correction", stating that the income of the middle class, lower-middle class, and poor has declined over the last 10 years of the government.

He can barely retain his seat in Trivandrum. I am from TVM and most people here are predicting his loss. He just talks good English so people think he is talking facts. Here is a point by point rebuttal of Tharoor's narratives... 1. Tharoor said, he sees Poverty rising, which is factually incorrect, not just according to Government data but also according to IMF and World Bank. In fact according as I pointed out earlier IMF report 2022 stated that extreme poverty in India has dropped to 0.66% thanks to PM Gareeb Kalyan Yojana. 2. His claim about PLI is also false. Budget has announcements about PLI, especially new budget allocations. PLI program has also been praised internationally and has played a major role in increasing India's merchandize exports from 240 billion in 2013-14 to 450billion dollars in FY2022-23. In other words what Khangress achieved in 60 years of bad governance Modi government achieved in 9 years of good governance. 3. Now FDI, here too Tharoor engages in a sophisticated bit of trickery to hide the facts. India attracted FDI of 71billion in FY22-23 as mere 24.3billion in FY13-14. India's GDP has grown more rapidly relative FDI is not a bad thing as he tries to imply. In fact it shows that India's growth is being driven by Indian industrialists, farmers, businessmen rather than foreign companies. Additionally considering global economic downturn resulting from Cov and Ukraine FDI growth being less than internal growth is to be expected. the fact that FDI coming into India has grown 3 fold in 9 years of Modi government relative to 60 years of Khangress government speaks volumes about how incompetent Khangress rule Bharat was... 4. Unemployement narrative that Khangress tried to push before state election was discredited then itself but apparently you weren't watching news then. Please note Tharoor doesn't specify any numbers and just talks vaguely, which ironically is what he accused Sitharamanji of doing... In case, he are the facts Unemployment rate in India in FY22-23 was 3.2% in FY13-14 the rate was 4.9%. In other words unemployment rate was higher during Khangress rule. FY23-24 numbers are not out yet, remember this is an interim budget and Indian governments statistical department releases data at the end of the financial year in other words April-May. According to SBI research report, India has added nearly 5.2 crore new formal jobs between the financial year 2020 and 2023, . The report was based on an analysis of the Employee Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), National Pension Scheme (NPS), and Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC). 2.7 crore new employees were added during the same period. Women’s share in the new jobs 27%. These are just formal sector jobs, do understand most employment in India even now is in unorganized sector. Tharoor was simply engaging in Political campaigning by obfuscating facts.

Bt in Mumbai locals started white collar jobs in 90s and now Marathi PPL go abroad most and send remittance most than any community in India. Punajab, hariyana and gurjat have high unemployment becuz they have less white collar jobs and blue collar jobs get replaced by up/bihari as they work in cheap salaries. To increase blue collar wage there will be min wage and need to remove the labour class of up/bihar from states. Cuz they literally work in half salary. Same scenario is happening in usa. Illegal immigrants are working in low salary hence locals are not getting jobs and hence US unemployment is also increased.

I was also a part of this skill India program. Most of the teachers that even came to teach this program were half baked and unknowledgeable. even the jobs that were promised initially turned out to be in substandard working conditions. The irony is some people don't even get these substandard jobs after the training and the training centres make fake employment certificates and falsely show these people are employed for 3 months to get the remaining half of funding from the government. So I'm telling this with teary eyes, skill India has so much potential but the money is looted by middle men 😢
