The golden days of 6 music entertainers - also knowledgeable about music and pop culture - are now pretty much in the dust. Loved Adam and Joe, and Shaun's dry wit made the inbetween bits as good as the music. Really can't say the same for many of the other shows on this station, especially breakfast which has just become formulaic, glib, beige radio presenting but with slightly alternative music. Shame on 6 managers, (6 managers operating in gangs), and I'm off to listen to re-runs, sulk, and drink some TEA!!!

To not have Shaun as my daft, daytime companion is heart-breaking. Working in my workshop laughing out loud, i'll miss him

Thanks so much for uploading this, I listen to it quite often. What a fantastic DJ he was. Xxx

So gutted. You can hear how upset he is. Powers that be at 6 have made a big mistake and will lose a lot of listeners. Have loved Shaun's show for 14 years. He was 6 Music to me.

Hard to listen to that again, beautiful but sad at the same time. I never knew he was told to leave!! The station is slowly starting to empty! Hopefully Giles peterson won’t be replaced by dermot O’Leary in the next coming months 😥

Told to leave... WTF, I didn't realise that!

@@Owza57 But of course, who doesn't love such wonderful presenters like the amazing Mary Anne Hobbs who will definitely electrify you in the morning and certainly not put you too sleep in your already dreary state after the previous days hard work.

One to another Keav's been like a brother Who kept us all company through the years Now I heard this day was coming It got nearer every day And 10th Sept between 1 to 4 was not easy And a few onions were definitely shed Though love did heal the pain Although it's never gonna feel quite the same again Thank you Mr K for all the laughs, kisses on both cheeks and dead air in between You will be fondly remembered long after the cart wall's been taken down And we all heard the bell ringing at The Open Arms for the final time. So here's to you Shaun. Take care ole pal. It's been a blast. Cheers mate Lots of loveXXXX

I can no longer listen to 6 Music anymore. Ridiculous decision. Looking back now you can tell he has been pissed these past few months. The legend amongst legends up there with RadMac. I just don’t get the 6 Music managers, I really don’t.

I've listened to this easily a dozen times. It is spectacularly good radio and only serves to provide further confirmation that the BBC have made an absolute arse of it. Again.

Re listening to this after 2 years and having recently discovered the daily grind. What a final show this was, and what a shame the whole show isn’t available anymore. Cats… cats operating in gangs.

Thanks for posting this - I discovered him late and only heard the afternoon show (just after he moved) and he became - for me - just about the best jock on the station - if not the BBC. Just to note here, I'm pretty sure he wasn't "sacked" by R6, he says "When I was informed I wouldn't be doing this show anymore..." that sounds much more like that R6 decided we were having to much fun in the afternoon and wanted to move someone else into the slot just to calm things down. Given how these decisions are made, I wouldn't be surprised if Craig Charles wasn't the person who they wanted in his slot (absolutely no proof of that - and I know from experience that 1/ the BBC management doesn't have a clue - esp. radio, and 2/ on all stations all jocks are at the whim of management- see 1/) But it looks like he decided to go rather than be moved to - presumably a weekend slot. Personally I find R6 unlistenable right up there with Absolute nee Virgin (where I used to work before the beeb). Anyone close to or in touch with Mr Keaveny, can they ask if he is any better and point out that he really ought to start doing birthdays... Pip pip

According to interviews I've read, he was offered "a lesser commitment". These are his specific words. He hasn't yet elaborated on what that mean, that I've read.

Powerful. I probably missed it somewhere but it was the first time I realised he was pushed out. Hard to believe. Love ya Shaun - too many memories and too many compliments. ONIONS

I was an avid listener of Sean for years, used to run in the mornings with my digital Radio with his show for company and loved it, He was so different to everyone else, just completely natural and effortless as a presenter, I was sad when he went to afternoons at first, cos it changed my routine, but then moved with him , just can't understand why it was decided to move him on, reminds me of when Mark and Lard we're sacked from Radio 1, they we're by far the best thing on there and have never been replaced or equaled, Craig Charles is doing an ok job now, but he belongs on an evening show playing funk and soul music not daytime

Absolute disgrace that the bbc have let Shaun go. 6 has definitely lost it’s way recently, and letting Shaun go says it all . Such a shame. Top top broadcaster. 6 won’t be the same again.

He's gonna be fine(I think). Discovered only this morning he filled in for the lovely Liza Tarbuck on Radio 2 on Saturday 25th. Thought they might have announced his upcomuping appearance on Newsnignt or something but alas us mere mortals only found out later on(LOL). It really cheered me up to hear his dulcit tones again. Same old jokes and tunenage and bits and bobs between some classic tunes. He will back again soon...."Man in a Keaveny caravan!!!"...X

He was too good for 6Music anyway. Too many musical snobs there for my liking, but never him. I still hope that the BBC will give him meaty show on Radio 2 or Radio 4.

Everyone knows why Shaun was gotten rid of. Some ultra hip, lefty feminist wanted to make a name for herself, and 6music, in the light of the BLM riots, had to be seen to ‘diversify’ even more.

Mark Radcliffe another great dj was shunted about till he disappeared, both great talents something the BBC wouldn't now recognise if it jumped up and bit them on the nose! Hope shunted appears somewhere soon. Colin Murray another great dj who was shunted off the airwaves!

Yes, I can see exactly why in the aftermath of Black Lives Matter civil disturbances in the US the controller of BBC 6 music wanted to diversify by sacking a DJ from Lancashire (FFS 🤦♂️
