When your terminal especially as a child. People will keep these things away. Not as an act of cruelty but kindness. As death especially a drawn out one puts a damper on things. I'm around emt's/paramedics not quite the same. But when they get someone who will die they dont tell them very often that they will. They comfort them and let them know that their loved ones love them and are excited to see them better after treatment a lot of them dont make it to the hospital. If they are religious sometimes they will pray with them as they pass. The other person will often ask "am I going to die." And they tell them no or I'm doing my best to save you. It's a comfort thing. Because knowing you will die sucks.
@enarum87855 ай бұрын
It's not sick and sad. People tend to be more sickly when they are informed of their medical condition. Personally my Grandpa had a brain tumor (Stage IV cancer) and the diagnosis was revealed to my father but not Grandpa. The brain tumor affected his hearing and vision but all my father informed him was that it was due to old age. He died peacefully in sleep of a cardiac arrest. On the other hand, if he had been informed of his diagnosis, he wouldn't have a chance to get a sound sleep due to the fear of death haunting all the time. There are times when doctors need to lie to their patients too so that they can have a peaceful life. Shaun does not have those qualities of lying. The whole series revolves around him being developing these absent qualities to become a 'Good Doctor'
@pane0_0185 ай бұрын
@@enarum8785 Ya but what if he misses out on things that he would have done if he knew he was going to die. It doesn't even have to be like anything crazy just like spending time with your grandkids, telling your family how much he loves them or hugging them. Maybe even doing things that one has been holding off on doing for whatever reason. It feels like to me they would have more fullfilling death if they knew and could do things they wanted to do but have been holding off on (which ppl do obv).

Context: The kid has cancer, which makes him clumsy. The parents found out a phew months before and that he had only a year to live they didn't tell him, but he found out on his own. The kid looks exactly like the autistic doctors (shaun) brother, who died years before, so he was determined to save him, which he couldn't. The episode ends with the kid telling the doctor he'll be ok and he goes home. The shows called The Good Doctor are pretty good but fall off when they kill off a major character

I knew a guy that had cancer. He beat it. It was about my age 17 at the time. Well he went to the doctor here later to get a check up and since he was such a high hopes that the cancer wouldn’t come back, the doctor didn’t tell him face-to-face that it was back. He told his parents and the parents kept it from him. Well, after about three years of him fighting in Losing Wait, his parents finally told him that his cancer has progressed to stage four and it would be most likely the cause of his death. Remember he bought for three years after they told him he died. A week later is well was destroyed, and we believe that was the only thing keeping him alive.

Evan wasn't just clumsy and actually had a brain tumor, his parents knew but didn't want to say it to Evan. Shaun told Evan cause he's bad at lying cause of his autism, but Evan already knew. The parents got mad at Shaun. They did surgery on him but couldn't do anything for him. At the end of the episode, Shaun asks for a favor. He read a page from the Steves book which he got for him. I love the good doctor with my whole heart HAHA. The episode is season 1, episode 5 if you want to watch it.

When I was young, I had many health problems, and my Mom would talk to me about almost everything. I learned in my adult years that there were a few things that she kept from me, but it was okay. I am now the only one left of my family and am 77 years old, and for my age, I am in good health.

The first episode of this show broke my heart, when his dad threw his rabbit in the wall and it died, and when the brother fell to his death:(

Wow. I can't believe that these parents didn't even try to save their son. Absolutely sick

I saw this guy in a hospital and reminded me of my late brother. I went and introduced myself and told him who he reminded me of and made it awkward. I just had a flashback. 😢
