@RENOVATIO Only if by propaganda you mean literally every news station around. I heard about Russia's HUGE doping scandal on every station from Al Jazeera and the BBC to America's Fox news AND MSNBC for two weeks strait. The ONLY news in the world that says otherwise, in fact, is Russian, for obvious reasons. Plus the way you're kicking around trying to pick arguments with everyone tells me you're a troll. So forgive me if I don't believe you.
@renovatiovr6 жыл бұрын
Yes exactly, the mainstream media, the one that is used to control the opinion of the masses. Here is the thing - I am not denying the use of doping but I hardly see it as something shocking - its use is widespread everywhere or do you think all the international athletes decided to use it exclusively in Russia? I think it is easy to map that those reporting such things don't care about the use of doping, they care about giving it too much importance when it comes to Russia and thus developing a stereotype. Speaking of stereotypes, please don't let me associate you to the weak minded sheep by using the old, expired "troll" calling on everybody that argues against your point.

@@jesskfca as a gymnast I understand why she stopped…. But there’s also gymnastics tradition she broke that sickened me. No matter if you compete or not, you go up, you touch off (touch the equipment and let go), you salute the judges and crowd and then you sit down. It shows you came to compete, you can no longer compete but you are here for your team. She did nothing of the sort. She sat down and quit at the expense of her team. It would be the same as if Shawn showed up with no gear and stood on the sidelines instead of just sitting out. So ya… she was a quitter. As a gymnast you do these things out of instinct especially in the professional ring. Those traditions are there in every meet, every comp, every worlds, every nationals…. You find yourself doing them when you aren’t even thinking about them. She chose to wallow selfishly as opposed to supporting the team one last time and then taking care of her emotional well-being.

@@andrewsoe8374 Shaun White backed out of a super dangerous event to preserve himself for his primary one. Does it need to be explained fully to you why what he and Biles did are very different? She cracked under pressure and succumbed to fear, and that’s her choice, but let’s not sugarcoat it.

As a resident of the Vancouver area during the 2010 Olympics, I was so excited to have these athletes right there in my back yard, and I was rooting for my fellow Canadians in all the sports --except snowboarding! Not only is Shaun White an amazing, absolutely legendary athlete, my ex (who I was living with at the time) is also a curly redhead born with Tetralogy of Fallot. I have 2 great memories from the 2010 games: watching Shaun White rock his victory lap with above-mentioned ex, and working at the grocery store during the men's hockey gold medal game. We had a huge TV set up at the registers, and I was the self checkout attendant that day, so I had a great view. The entire last 20 minutes of that game, the store was basically shut down. Staff and customers all just standing around the self checkouts watching the game. Most of us wearing our Team Canada gear.

Reading the comments confirms Tony Hawk's statement that there's a lot of haters. Which of the people making snide comments is/was good enough to go to the Olympics? If you can back it up, it ain't talking BS. Ask the people doing this today and who do they say inspired them to also make their mark in the sport. Walk a mile in his shoes, then an unfavorable opinion carries value. Otherwise it's all ignorance. The internet is full of opinion and no one knows your name. Opinion doesn't foster infamy, walking the walk does. Grow up.

Jack Clarke Indeed, the ex band mate he harassed, abused (both sexually, verbally and using violence) which came out when she sued him for not paying her wages had her allegations upheld in court, as well as his bad behaviour towards others is not just haters.

It was an odd case. She originally sued White for breach of contract, then threw a sexual harassment accusation. I'm not trying to make excuses for him, but there's more to this story than we've been told.

Being an Olympian is more than just performance and record breaking and medals it's conducting yourself with grace and elegance-bringing joy and inspiration to others. There are so many people who have won golds who live on as legends because they are both. But if you mistreat people, have a high ego, abuse and harass-that is awful and unacceptable. I don't care how many medals you have one. Now I'm just commenting in general, I was just watching the Legends video on Katarina Witt and this one came on and I so I read the comments. Indeed, I agree with you-and it sounds like the information you have is very credible-in fact, litigation is public record(with some exceptions) so you can find out. You're right, it's not just 'being a hater' Using your power and your prestige to take advantage of others makes it even more reprehensible. I'm sorry, but just because something is brought out in court during the course of litigation doesn't mean it's not true. Not paying someone wages? Horrible. That's lording your power over someone and threatening their livelihood-a lot of times when someone is abusive and you dare to challenge them, they will harass and become enraged because of their narcissism etc and will become violent, etc. Yes, it takes years of work and dedication to get to the Olympics and I don't like people making snide comments about someone's performance-but that's a different story. I will get back to you and look it up, my mom is attorney so there is a 'database' that I can use to read into it.
