Shaun, I'm so happy for you that your trip to Atlanta allowed you to see that band perform live; the magnitude of the experience must have been overwhelming and the odds of it even happening had to have been astronomical! Just seeing the joy on your face while you were jumping around like mad with your Scottish flag/towel actually brought tears to my eyes and a big smile on my face as I was so glad to see you have such a great time. My favorite places in Atlanta are the Jimmy Carter Presidential Center, the Atlanta History Center, the home of Margaret Mitchell (where she wrote Gone With the Wind), Emory University, Little 5 Points, the Atlanta Botanical Gardens, the Martin Luther King Jr grave, Piedmont Park, and the Flying Biscuit restaurant for a fabulous southern breakfast, and Mary Mac's Tea Room for a very southern lunch or dinner. I hope you can return there during a COOL time of the year! All of Georgia is glorious in March & April when the azaleas & dogwoods are in bloom!

Especially in the Appalachian mountains...got to see Ellijay, Blue Ridge, ride the Blue Ridge Railway in the fall (late October) the colorful leaves are breathtaking. Stone Mountain near Atlanta is another place to go see, The High Museum of Art, and the Fox Theater. Fox Brother's BBQ, The Vortex is a must go to if you enjoy burgers, Buford Hwy is good if you want any type of authentic food from other nations. Hope y'all get to come back. Spring and fall really are the best weather, not too hot. Have a wonderful day.

That’s so awesome you got to see one of your favorite bands while in ATL! Yes, it’s hot in GA. August is even hotter. I grew up in GA, I’m 44 now, and it was not unusual for triple digit temperatures in the summer. It definitely is painful if you don’t have a/c. Now maybe you can understand the Ice tea being so popular here…it’s HOT 🥵! Lol! Hope you come back! Definitely recommend Sept- November, or March-May/early June.

Hey Shaun, don't plan to your travel to the southern states during the summer. Its wayyy toooo hot for and Scotsman. Come between October and May and you will experience very comfortable temperatures not just in the south but even notoriously home places like Texas, Arizona and Nevada. I grew up in San Diego and now live in Seattle. Places with some of the mildest climates in North America. I too am unaccustomed to the soaring temperatures that you've experienced on this trip. Honestly, the heat just zaps my energy and makes me lazy and looking for a place to sit down. I'm 62 and in pretty good shape but cannot deal with too much heat. My wife and I did a day trip up into the foothills of Mt Rainier here in Washington and the temperature was 20 degrees cooler just over 1 hr from our home. 82° in Seattle 62° on Crystal Mountain. Don't torture yourselves in that oppressive heat. ♣

Atlanta is actually cooler than most of the south because of the higher elevation, about 1000ft. The urban heat island makes it a bit warmer at night though.

Atlanta can be dangerous especially when it comes to cars being broken into when parked. There has been an escalation in crime even in nicer areas like Buckhead. Start hitting the Northern states and Canada in the summer. The southeast is fine in the winter, but too damn hot and humid in July and August. Chicago-land area alone is worth a week. You've seen how big the Mississippi is at the end, where it starts you can almost jump across it. The Badlands change colors throughout the day, depending on the angle of sunlight. Same with parts of Utah. Mount Washington NH is the first place to see the dawn in the 48 states. America is more than the Remnants of the Confederacy.

I understand your thoughts and feelings regarding spending and dollar value, but may I simply make this point: ONE of the THREE ONLY BEST and LARGEST AQUARIUMS IN THE WORLD VS food which can be experienced at...*quick internet search* "300+ restaurants in the Walkable Downtown Atlanta District". Major missed opportunity, mate. And I'm speaking as one who's lived paycheck-to-paycheck, never making enough to save for travel, let alone pleasure, or anything other than unexpected, necessary expenses (Car, medical, winter clothes, bills) and so must live vicariously through documentaries, films, programs, and videos like yours. Having said that, I can see from your other vids how greatly you enjoy your food, and like many men, (husband included) the way to some hearts is through the stomach, so enjoy! And realize and appreciate how fortunate you two are!! Heck, some 3rd world people still have to walk miles for water, or medical attention, if they can get it!! 🕊💜🙏🏼

You got to see FF at one of the best music venues in Atlanta🎉 I saw Travis there & it was to this day one of the top 3 best shows I’ve ever seen, right behind Glen Hansard & Elbow! Glad you enjoyed my hometown! Highly recommend when you come back to visit you come in the Spring time or Autumn. Nothing beats Atlanta in the spring when it’s in full bloom & in Autumn is spectacular with all the trees turning all the colors of Fall, you can also drive up to the North Georgia Mountains & see some beautiful views during Spring & Autumn, but the N GA Mtns in Autumn is chefs kiss!

Atlanta is beautiful! I was there in June, living in Peachtree tower (you are showing Carnegie and I was there in that Peachtree tower) in downtown. I enjoyed the Coca-Cola muzeum, Human rigts, Aquarium, CNN Center... LottaFrutta and so on...

You decided to tour the South in the summer? THE SUMMER? Wellllll ... don't be surprised that you're dying of the heat. LOL. Spring and fall and even winter are better times.

I couldn't make out what you said during the tasting of the red cream soda. Barq's is pronounced like the sound a dog makes. They make really good root beer as well. A tip for another trip: There are a lot of touristy things you can do in Louisville, KY, the home of KFC, Muhammad Ali, the Louisville Slugger Baseball bat, and the Kentucky Derby, but you'll also be centrally located where you could make day trips to Indianapolis, IN, Cincinnati, OH, and Nashville, TN. Indy and Cincy are just a couple hours drive away each and Nashville is around 3 hours. That may seem like a long drive in the UK I guess but as you already know from your previous visits, those aren't long drives by US standards at all.

The water zoo in ATL is amazing FYI. If you come back you should check it out. I went to those Olympic Games. We saw the track and gymnastics events, I think. We weren’t there during the bombing.

Shaun, thanks for setting us straight on the pronunciation of Carnegie--car-NAY-ghee, in that 99%+ pronounce it CAR-nuh-ghee. DUH! You may not know, but Atlanta is one of the country's most ethnically diverse cities, and its airport is the world's busiest, since it's a hub for transfers for a number of airlines. Anyone who's traveled should understand that what you said around 10:00 of not being able to see everything suggested. One thing I run into here when I'm traveling is that, because we have to plan ahead, trying to figure how long you'll need to do all the things you want to do in a certain city, national park, whatever, plus driving time, which sometimes results in highway repairs slowing you down. Sometimes it works out great, but more often than not, you give yourself too much time, or (more often) not enough time. Personally, I think you 2 do an amazing job of guessing it right. In case you're trying to remember, it was back in 1996 when Atlanta hosted the Summer Olympics. As you think back, which do you remember as being hotter, Atlanta or New Orleans?

Hopefully this video will give Europeans a better idea about why we drink cold tea and blast the air conditioning here in America.😄 If you like roller coasters, come back and you can go to Six Flags Over Georgia. Summer fashion tip: wear white or light-colored clothing here, especially during the summer since lighter colors reflect heat. Your black t-shirt in this video probably contributed to you feeling hot.

YES! The Varsity is great greasy fast food--best hot dogs, fries, and onion rings. I hope you tried a frosted orange (think of an orange sherbet milkshake). The World of Coca-Cola, Waffle House, and the Georgia Aquarium are definite go-tos. The Tabernacle is an old church that was a "House of Blues" during the 1996 Olympics then changed to "The Tabernacle". It is a fun, intimate concert venue. There are many things to do and with limited time you did well. The heat and humidity can be oppressive for those who are not used to it. We take naps during the day also as needed. You should try a visit here during DragonCon (a great multimedia/science fiction/fantasy convention) which the Hilton and Sheraton are part of. I hope you are able to make a return visit some time for parts you didn't have time for this trip.

Just arrived back in Atlanta from a 2 week trip...1 week in Portugal and 1 week in West Yorkshire. I nearly cried when we stepped off the plane and instantly back into the heat and humidity...not to mention the next for days will be in the upper 90s.
