Shaurya Bastola - Batasidai (Official Music Video )

"BATASIDAI" is my first original Nepali song and words can't express how proud and excited I am to be releasing it in my beloved native tongue.
Inspired by Western movie sound tracks and classic Nepali pop/rock, it was recorded in my bedroom and shot in the incredibly beautiful and challenging landscape of LADAKH with an iPhone 15 pro. The song talks about how generally people get locked up in a bubble and struggle to take a free spirited approach towards life. The constant need to build a greater and bigger future followed by the stress that comes with it means that people have forgotten the art of living in the present. I myself have been trapped in the bubble like everyone else and it is Mother Nature who helps me be free albeit for a blissfully brief moment in time.
"BATASIDAI" literally means "drifting in the wind".
It is with a positive and relaxed attitude, the song emphasises on letting go of all inhibitions and fears as sometimes it is perfectly fine to drift along and be free spirited. Life will take its own course no matter how hard we try, so don't overthink and just chase your dreams as life itself is so very impermanent. Don't forget to be one with mother nature.

Atti nai babal cha bro. A breath of fresh air. I'm usually very difficult to please, as I tend to nitpick and find flaws and ways to discredit a song lol. And, specially detest most of these new songs with no real depth and character that are dominating the Nepali music scene but this one got me hooked me from the get-go. The slow build-up with the amazing solo, the mid-song tempo change, and how you wrapped it all up; t’s all so subtle yet impactful. It's simple but carries a depth that many others haven't captured before. A perfect blend of western, indie, and folk etc. Remind me of scenes of legends like Clint Eastwood and Henry Fonda walking down the desert road with instructions being passed down from the great Sergio Leone from the director's chair. . Absofuckinglutely loved it man.
