One of the most truly liberating things I’ve ever done in my life is cut off most of my hair! So much was tied up, for me, in my hair. It had to do with self awareness, identity, femininity. I feel stronger, more natural, more current, and more beautiful with my very short hair. I will never go back to longer hair for these reasons. Plus my hair at this point in my life, is not the same as the hair of my youth and it looks so so much better shorter. I’m not fighting trying to make it have more volume, more life, more shine. It is all of those things now effortlessly. And it’s so so much easier! You look beautiful Meg, enjoy your new haircut!

That is so awesome. I too lost my hair through Chemo a few years ago and last year did "The Brave the Shave" here in the UK, where I also shaved my head to raise money for Cancer Research. It is a very liberating experience having no hair to take care of. You son Ry is adorable and very brave of him too.

I appreciate you letting you son be himself. I love the hair buzz. I did that and I remember feeling the wind on my scalp for the first time and it made me emotional. When I lost weight people thought I was sick. When I buzz my hair, people thought I was sick. Just goes to show that people are going to think what they’re going to think. You look great!

I've been shaving my head since 2012 because I was going through my change of life...my ups were ups and my downs were downs...my rock bottom was suicide...Doctors wanted me to go on all these drugs...but I wasn't haven't that! For me...Shaving my head and getting tattoos was my therapy and medicine...I have found this to be liberating and free! Love you for you being you and all of your support that tribe around you ❤

I loved this! I always wanted to donate my hair so I did 3 times in 4 years. It was such a wonderful way to 'give back' and I loved the freedom and liberating feel and not having to fix my hair! I ended up keeping it buzzed/short for about 2 years and then grew it back out during the pandemic. I don't think I will do it again though. You look beautiful with and without hair. I love that you shared this experience with your son.

I love how honest kids are 😂 I just got my head shaved yesterday so it was nice seeing a newer one. I’m at a 1.5 guard and I honestly wanna go shorter but I love it so far like it’s so soft. I’ve been wanting to shave it for 2 years and it was my first time ever. Honestly there’s no cons for me I already had a pixie cut when I shaved mine and I’ve had short hair (like above the shoulder) since I was in 6th grade so yeah I had no hair to donate even though I thought about that Once you cut it even to shoulder length you never go back let’s be real lol

I also went through chemo and radiation a couple years ago for Hodgkin’s lymphoma. I actually loved it when I shave my hair off. Think I will do it again someday and go back to a pixie cut. Way to go👍👍👍👍

You look AMAZING! Buzzing made your eyes pop and dare I say you look younger. I’ve shaved my head a couple of times. I’m currently trying to grow mine back out…but watching this I can’t give a good enough reason as to why I’m doing that. It’s so freeing to have short to no hair. So much of a woman’s identity and feminine identity is attached to long hair. I struggle with that. Feeling feminine enough… part of me wants to just keep it shaved and part of me wants the wild mane of hair.

The in-between regrowth phase can be difficult to manage too. I always make a pros and cons list to help me decide. How bloody freeing and liberating and smart and logical and original is that, to do that to your pros and cons list! i love that! i neeeeed that! ive been suffering anxiety and always seem to be concerned what others will think of me if i do this or that. i had been hating the heat and how hot my almost waist length hair was so in the midst of a super hot summer here in Australia in lockdown i took the big kitchen scissors to hubby and said HACK IT ALL OFF RIGHT NOW PLEZ! Bless him, he never even blinked. Took the scissors and hacked across it about where my ears are! Cried immediately but with relief that it was all gone and now im not who people were expecting so i dont have to live up to anything! i was now just a wierd looking old hippy lady living out in the bush with all her rescue animals and her beloved. My beautiful vegan naturopath Daughter loved it when she saw it, tho it had grown quite a bit. i asked her to cut it short again for me and could she make it spiky all over please, so she watched a few youtube vids and hey presto, its not only short and spiky, she bleached it then dyed it vibrant violet for me too. : )

Just a suggestion, you should try the razor now that your hair (?) is that short. It feels quite different than even a buzz. And you can rock the look.

@@PlantFitMeg .that Terrific to hear,😉💚. Perhaps, this Is your new way of life. Using little dabs of shampoo & clippers. Never having to pay a hair stylist & all that money saved for whatever else. And finally, 10 years ago,MSN,did a survey on who likes long hair, short hair, & no hair.14% of us like no hair. I think that has grown more percentage points. We like to see hot & cute women shave their hair. So it was nice of you to share with us. When you are in public, let alone on a hot day, we pray that when you pass other women, they suddenly pop in somewhere & shave it all off. We want this flow to take off. In my state of Maryland, a lot of improvement would be Nice. By the way, when you said the clippers feel nice,they do. Especially when you have a smooth operator. 😇💚🤩🤩.

Ya, it can be high maintenance to maintain, especially if going to the barbers weekly or bi-weekly. I've always just clipped it at home by myself or with Chris's help, so it's not too bad. 👍🙂

Maybe one day I'll try to shave it smooth to see what it's like, but I prefer to use my electric clippers to maintain my buzz cut. That way I don't have to worry about shaving cream or risk cutting myself while using a razor.
