Nice comparison shave. My DE89 has a short knurled handle. May be exclusive with Amazon, under $40. I love it. I never really took to the Twig. Not sure why.

@@FriendshipShaving hey mark. I just picked up the somewhat newer RazoRock Gamechanger .76P. It is a good one and worth trying at some point. Smooth but efficient. Kind of like a Goldilocks plate between .68 and .84 although I still enjoy the .84 too. .68 was too mild. I picked up an EJ DE86(de 89 head with black handle) a couple months back for $25 usd on Amazon. Prob was the best deal out there for a milder razor. I bought and sold one years back but had to retry. It gives me a better shave now. It was too mild then. Technique improvement. I also agree with it being head heavy a bit. Not a huge deal as I could put on a diff handle but I prob won’t cause I like the black and chrome look. Black handle really is not slippy.

That was a really good comparison shave, Mark. A proper job! I do love Southern Witchcrafts soaps, at least the two I have, which are on the darker end of their already darkish spectrum. Wishing you and your mum a great weekend and week to come.

From my limited experience, the best blade for the Twig is the Derby Premium. I am going to try Treet Platinum next. My short handled DE89, however, seems to be very agreeable with almost every blade.

Let me mention other British razor, the Wilkinson Sword Classic ( the plastic one ). For me both are so good.

Thanks for doing this review Mark!😀I purchased the Leaf Twig and the slightly more aggressive Leaf Thorn. I preferred the DE 89 to both Leaf razors. The DE 89 was the first DE razor I purchase and while other razors have come and gone, the DE 89 still remains my go to. I also own the DE 89 short handle version which reminds me of my father's Gillette Superspeed. That was the razor I first shaved with in 1961. I was 13 then.
