Word "Otyken" in Chulym and other Turkic languages means - "a sacred land where warriors would lay down their arms and talk". Greetings from Scotland! PLEASE, do more reactions to OTYKEN! You will be amazed at their music! They are a Russian Siberian indigenous music group that mixes elements of local folk music with modern pop, incorporating traditional instruments, lyrics, and languages. The band members are of Siberian ethnicities and live in tiny villages along the Chulym river in the taiga of Krasnoyarsk Krai.

Asyan is the vocalist. Dive into Otyken "Phenomenon" and then "Altay". Your mind will be blown. They are from the Siberian section of Russia. They sing in a mix of languages including Chulyum and Russian. The "horse headed fiddle" is the instrument in question, or "Morin Khur". In this song, many of the intonations that Azyan uses represent sounds of nature. The high pitched sound she uses is representative of a hawk, for example.

чувак,а куда нырять то? нормально сделанные кавера на вещи которым 40-50-60 годиков в обед... а своё есть у отукен ,во что действительно захочется нырнуть, и чего никогда ранее не слышал? так чтобы ни намёка на какую то поп, диско или глэм или джаз банду из прошлого? конкретно эта вещь ,всего лишь, кавер на "Sand Storm" от "La Bionda" из начала 70-х,классический, давно протухший, диско-хит,да хорошо сделанный с прекраным колоритным видеорядом но кавер на 98% вплоть до "непереводимых заклинаний" фоном так что он даже не звучит по новому...не вериш? сам найди и послушай как звучит оригинал..,и так со всеми вещами от отукен,включаешь поиск по музыкальному ряду и попадаешь на какой нибудь богом забытый хит из прошлого...

I think the band name is pronounced Ah-Tee-Ken... but I might be wrong. They are members of a native Siberian tribe, from north central Asia, and the language they are using is spoken by only about ten thousand people in the world. I first discovered them when they released the single 'Atlay' in a collaboration with Ummet Ozcan, a Turkish throat singer.
