(spoilers) Shawn James actually put in the title of this song (ellie's song) what a legend. i think the title of the song is called the guardian because The guardian of Ellie was Joel and this song is about him , that now he is dead , who is she to turn to. this game is an another level , it makes it seem like real life.

I think Guardian also refers to the justification Ellie uses for her mission. She sees it, not just as emotional revenge, but ideological and moral justice. She's the one "tipping the scales to justice's end"

@@thomascg4907 yeh , shawn wrote those lyrics and talked with naughty dog to add them into the game as it fits perfectly with the story concept they were going with , also the crossed out lines in Ellie's diary was Shawn's idea as that what it looked like in his own diary while writing the song, so he thought it would be a nice idea

I also think that's why a lot of people disliked the game. Too realistic. In real life people die very often. And not only that but they die unexpectedly, without a heroes' end, they get stupid. Just like Joel. Or Jesse.

Woah, that’s deep. Joel was a certified bada&$, and for him to go out like that broke me and Baby J (Ellie). Baby J then became much more of a bada&$ than what she was before and went on living for Joel. Now that I think about it, this song IS about Joel, her guardian. That’s so deep…✊🏽
