Agreed. I think she has progressed an amazing amount throughout the show, and this was an outstanding song.

My favorite of her performances. Her original song was the best even though I didn't vote for her..maybe I should have after seeing this part of the show. She deserves great success in the music business.

Shawn is effing amazing. She slept in my bed :) (She performed at our county fair and shes friends with my mom's ex.. and they didnt wanna get a hotel so they stayed at my house and I gave up my bed lol). She's an all around awesome girl :)

Amazing...you've actually BEEN to 'my' lil' ol' island??? I mean, it's SO small...so rural...so far from anywhere...how come?! ;) Here's hopin' JS continues to champion Shawn (with a 'w' - smile!) AFTER the cameras stop rollin'...'cause she seems to have blossomed under his care and tutelege - but here's also hopin' he doesn't attempt to 'box her in' as a songwriter instead of an all-around singer/songwriter/star-in-the-making, which i suspect she IS...we'll root for her, OK? ;)

So can i....but my preference would be to see SHAWN become the NEXT 'Shania' - with THIS song...HER song, y'see?? ;) She has the looks, voice, edge, sex-appeal AND songs to become a country-rock star along the lines of Shania IF she gets the right nurturing and management. I REALLY HOPE that her Mentor can look PAST the hard facts of HIS having had to work 25 years 'to become an overnight success' (!) & help her, a mere 21-year-old, to unfold NOW - instead having to wait/fight it out like him.

...TRUST is a precious thing; it works wonders...obviously, after making the Mentor-switch, Shawn placed hers in JS/her new Mentor, and he seems to know what to do with it = voila - judge by the results!! ;) Some Artistes need 'the gentle touch' to bring out the best in them...clearly, Shawn is one such; here's hoping JS is sufficiently sensitive to keep the trust-thang goin', & 'big enough' to steer her into a stellar performing artist career (which INCLUDES being a songwriter - but not 'JUST')

Song was good expect for the part where she held the note long. That she needs to work on.

Definitely - she did; but 1 great song does not a GREAT songwriter make...we don't know what else she's got. - either written yet, or yet to come; my point being, she needs to be nurtured as 'the whole package'...which she IS - not 'just' a songwriter, writing for others. Nashville's a tough town, & there are sooo many singer/songwriters...but few singer/songwriters with the elusive 'it' factor...which i sense she HAS - but which in her case could easily be crushed if not nurtured/'grown right'.

The verse was really rough, but once she got to the chorus where she could belt it out, it got pretty good. I think her backup singer sucked and that messed her up a little. There was one part during the long soaring note that was terrible. I don't blame Shawn for that though... her backup singer wasn't on the same page.

Cyancat - U don't seem 2 give anyone the possibility of GROWING & EVOLVING out of their 'small life' (in Iowa, or anywhere else...) ;) A LOT of folks voted 4 Shawn on a national TV show, so that counts 4 somethin', whether you agree or not...as 4 being rude 2 'young people' (a group i, unfortuantely, can no longer truthfully include myself as belonging 2 LOL!); that's just tired old ageism in reverse=inexperienced tho' they by definition often R, they still get 2 think & feel & have opinions, 2!

I agree Shawn is awesome, but she isn't very consistent. This song is beautifully written, but the performance isn't quite up to par. Though I do agree Melissa wasn't quite country enough for the show...her song was VERY pop.
