Shawn wasn't saving the company, he was the top guy when WCW started consistently beating the WWF. Granted it wasn't totally his fault, the WWF roster was really thin w/ Hall, Nash, & Bret gone for most of '96, but he was definitely not helping the situation. Really, he was the 1st guy I can remember getting the Cena/Roman treatment as the top face. Watch SvS '96, the crowd totally turned on him for Sid.
@m3shad6 жыл бұрын
richard h Shawn was getting the loudest pops out of anyone in the years 95-96. The NYC crowd loved Shawn. What happened was, after he won the title, the little bit of edginess HBK still had as a babyface was taken away because Vince wanted him to be "full on, squeaky clean babyface". The crowds saw right through that. Also, by the time Survivor Series '96 came around, Shawn had been champ for 8 months. The fans wanted something new. Sid was also over like rover. That's why the SS '96 crown turned on him.

He makes vague references to bad shit he did in the past, but denies every specific accusation. Before trying to turn Bret Hart's anger around on him, with a fun little bullshit comment about all the forgiveness in his heart. Well, he was in the first ladder match, hell in a cell and iron man match of which is one of the most famous matches in WWF history, he formed DX which was the most powerful group in WWF during their very successful period, won several world championships, when he won the iron man match he made Vince a heel after the iron man match(of which has definitely changed the WWF).

The first ladder match in WWE history was Shawn Michaels - Bret Hart. I’m thinking sometime in 1992

Along with his in-ring ability and turning his life around, the one thing I respect the most about HBK was the the fact that he talked to Vince McMahon like no one had, is, and will...and got away with it. Of course, we now know why HBK got away with it because Vince could say the passion in him....HBK = G.O.A.T I still think he should've beaten Hogan @ SS 05

@@danielocean3699 Shawn was extremely wild in the 90’s and really played his “Sexy Boy” image to a T. He was burying alot of wrestlers and made out with almost every chick that came his way before he converted.

For a guy that was pretty into being born again and turning away from his mistakes, he has trouble acknowledging he made the specific mistakes. This guy won't take blame for anything. Losing respect for Shawn.

"Submit to authority." Uh yeah...it should go without saying that you're not supposed to do that if you're being asked to do something unethical. It's funny that he brought up gangsters right after that.

I'm definitely a huge HBK fan, but I don't like his interviews at all. He's always evasive and kind of stumbles a lot throughout. He's probably my #1 fav wrestler, but my least favorite when it comes to these shoots.

Some may say the point of salvation through Christ is to turn your life around. You can't have salvation and continue to be the same guy. I'm glad for Shawn and his decision to give his life away in spite of what he's done leading up to that decision.

Comparing 97-98 shawn to shawn nowadays is like comparing santa claus to the green giant the difference is massive in terms of personality.
@venturawoods13148 жыл бұрын
Some of you speak as if you have all the Intel and know everything that went on behind the scenes. None of us know what we'd do in that spot. Vince is not at fault. HBK is definitely not at fault. Bret was in total control. The decision was made by Vince, and Bret was given more control regarding the passing of the torch than most do, and more than he should have. Bret did it to himself, and even though he's an all time great, he let personal grudges affect his professional position.

There is enough interviews and videoes out there that proves The Montreal Screw Job was not a work
@WaitingtoHit12 жыл бұрын
No, go to 12: 52 of the video. There is nothing confusing about this. Shawn said that if he had to do it all over again he would take the same course of action in Montreal. He's justifies it by saying that the Bible says to submit to authority. Shawn says, "My boss asked me to do a job, and I went out there and did it," as if nothing your boss tells you to do could ever be wrong. Then, incredibly, he makes the gangster analogy without understanding that he did something unethical.

Point blank: Bret Hart refused to drop the belt, Bret hart was leaving to WCW, Bret Hart didn't do the right thing; thus forcing Vince's hands'.. he's the boss and at the end of the day, as Stone Cold says, Bret got fired.. end of story.

Not for nothing, but I read that the whole Montreal Screwjob was Vinnie Mac's brainchild to give the Hitman a bit of momentum going into WCW.
@thedarkstranger9639 жыл бұрын
Will Smith Sooner or later people will realize it was a work contrived by Vince to get Bret some momentum going into WCW.
@thedarkstranger9639 жыл бұрын
Will Smith Of course they would run with the joke after Hitman left, the momentum worked both ways only WCW couldn't capitalize on the Hitman 'cause Bischoff didn't know what to do with him and Bret would've been grossly out of place in the Attitude Era.

How did this Shawn Michaels become a topic of religion? So the man chose to give his life to God. He's a grown man, so what? I'm Christian and I think that was the greatest decision he made in his life. None of us has the power or the right/priveledge to judge. He's Born Again, not a saint or an angel.
