to be fair, i thought for years that the XFL was a gigantic joke but looking back, it gave opportunity and EMPLOYMENT to players who loved football but could not make it in the incredibly challenging NFL. And as Vince put it, it was brutally honest about how ridiculous pro football really is if you break it down...something the NFL never did until about a few years ago so you really can make the argument that the XFL was decades ahead of its time. Wrestling has always been treated unfairly in my opinion. It's basically watching two stuntmen beat the hell out of each other, but people whine about how "fake" it is, but those guys take insane physical abuse for entertainment. People who watch and enjoy aren't the dumb ones it's the people who constantly feel a need to point out the flaw's, and yet go and watch a big production film with many of the same elements. It's like going to a theatrical play or movie theater and saying "You know it's fake right? Why would I watch that if it's fake?!"

The XFL was ahead of its time. It's ironically a lot like the pro wrestling industry today. Until AEW came around, for nearly 20 years, people thought there couldn't be another pro wrestling company to flourish aside WWE. I think the same, on a much lesser scale, can be said about the NFL. I think there is definitely room for another pro football league in the US. Again, not that anyone can match the NFL's popularity, but I do think there could be another pro league that can flourish and provide an alternate viewing-option to the NFL. I personally would love to see it. Unfortunately, the pandemic cut that possibility short about a year and a half ago, which is a huge shame. Maybe The Rock and his partners can revive it at some point. We'll see.

Bob is simply trying to be provocative, nothing more. He's just waiting for Vince to finish his answers, and actually not even listening. Vince spoke well and was honest about all he was trying to accomplish. I dislike very much the "gotcha" method of interviewing. Good interviewers make the guest feel comfortable and respected. Costas did neither.

What Vince did 20+ years ago would be considered watered down compared today's TV programs.

Vince had perfect hair and it hasn't grown back the same ever since Donald Trump, Lashley and StoneCold shaved him bald at WrestleMania 23🤣🌝👴

Bob Costas cooked in this interview, and he was proven right on most counts. No one wanted this product.

Imagine Tony Khan getting grilled like this in an interview about AEW. He would start crying like a baby immediately.

Vince could have used the XFL money he lost on the wcw wrestlers like hulk, Goldberg, hall and Nash etc to do a legit wwf vs wcw storyline after he bought wcw
@jaycerrito31422 ай бұрын
Exactly. Vince wasted money on a failed football league rather than buying out the Time Warner contracts of WCW talent. But instead we get a lame and mostly rushed story that focused too much on Steve Austin and the McMahons while the WCW wrestlers who did show up weren't treated good enough especially poor DDP and Booker T

Alot of them still had contracts from Turner and chose to sit home and get paid rather than go to WWF, and by then they weren't needed.

I love that Bob Costas started with asking about XFL continuing and here we are in 2023 and the XFL is alive and running but not under Vince's leadership. Vince did get interrupted a lot and I did sympathize a bit with him but then again he brought a lot of this negative attention on himself

@@richardsilkyjohnson7514 They had a second interview where Vince was a lot calmer. This wasn't even the worst of it - there were other interviews where Vince was questioned about wrestlers dying early. The truth is this guy should have been taken down a long time ago. Better late than never.

I swear I've seen this whole interveiw before, where is the original video? In this vid it cuts to the part where Vince moves forward on him but I want to watch the whole build up to it. Did HBO scrub it off youtube?
