I was 18 years old when this song came out in 1998 and completely blew my mind. I'm 43 now and every once in a while, a find myself searching for a piece of my youth on KZbin. Every time I listen this song gives me the feeling that is the first time i'm listening it, not sure why but it's an amazing feeling.

I love this comment. I am a few years younger (not much) and do the same. Music brings me back to a place and time that is good/bad/ugly, in regards to my youth. Can remember exactly what you were doing, how you felt, etc. when you first heard a song. Great stuff. I completely get this sentiment. I often go through the mid to late 90s rabbit hole and relive good memories.

one time YEARS ago, when this came out, I was in a car on the way to band practice in Amsterdam when this came on, it was raining...we turned it up, he sang to my soul. I hadn't heard it for ages when it was on the radio today at work. I almost cried, so beautiful.

Back in 1998 I lived in Atlanta and dated a girl named Arlene who knew Shawn. I met him a few times and would go see him at a little club called Eddie’s Attic. He was amazing. When my teenage daughter came to visit from New Jersey I took her to see him. It was the week before Lullaby broke and she was so stoked to tell her friends she saw him. I’d love to see him if he comes to Tampa. I know he’ll be in Miami in February so I may have to take the trip.

Loved this song since I first heard it! But to hear the story behind it and to listen to you unplugged is so much more! What a talent! Incredible song from the harmonics to the open tuning and chord progression. Then to add your Falsetto used so perfectly!....too many over use theirs. I sing and play...but wasn't blessed with your gift! All the best from Canada!

I don‘t know how many times I gave my Soul’s Core CD as a present to friends of mine after playing it to them while on the road home from some gig … all my friends were delighted by the storytelling and the heartwarming mood of every song. Whenever I find one of the CDs by chance in any record store for a nice price I take it home with me. It always feels like a rescue … and it soon after finds a new home with a newborn Shawn Mullins fan. Thank you for your music, dude 🙏

Shawn Mullins is a "one-hit-wonder" as far as I know. But he is an EXCELLENT artist. While this may be his only major hit, it is a masterpiece! I always use this song as an example when I complain how modern "artists" can simply not write anything remotely called music or lyrics like this song anymore. How did we get from the era where songs like this were written to where we are today with the crap that that flows out of our radio speakers like crap from a sewer...

Loved this song when you were young and cool. Sing the song that made the song great. Not a fan of you changing it up. I still enjoy hearing it, but sing it like you are still cool. You singing it this way seems like your not cool. You are def cool. Just seems like the pep and coolness is gone. Still love the song
