Thanks for the interview Joseph and Shawn! I hate to see Keanu go, but it's nice to hear the other side about what happened. I'm not going to say anything negative about Keanu anymore, and wish him the best!

Great video! Thank you Shawn for coming on and also commenting on Josephs video today. This is a phenomenal example of what goes on behind the scenes and how these young men are having to make tough decisions. Shame on some of those fans who said some crazy stuff. Look I was sad and felt betrayed but at the end of the day I wish him the best luck at BYU, and his father did a great job letting us know about what was going on. At the end of the day it’s a game. We will see them in Provo next year haha.

Good video. Nice to hear Shawn's take. For my fellow Utes: this is not the first time an RM has decided to go to the LDS school for spiritual reasons. Even predating NIL. This happens sometimes. The thing to rember is that Utah will likewise get players that BYU has no chance of getting because they are a religious institution. Or LDS kids that want church to stay at church. Cuts both ways. Like Joseph, I hope Keanu does well all next season, except for a single poor showing vs Utah. I also hope Shawn burns all his BYU gear after Keanu moves on to the NFL.

I think what’s really F’d is that people, myself included at times think that “rivalries” are important. Every program is human beings doing their best and trying to win. Whether it’s Utah, BYU or anyone winning, in reality we should be happy for all of them, because nobody is doing anything bad.

Wow, such a nice, reconciliatory discussion and then so many comments in here are still so toxic. I get that the initial comments from dad may have triggered some ick factor. He clarified it. This is no different from any of the other hundreds of cfb players citing perceived divine guidance in their decisions, including many who have chosen Utah over BYU across the years. For anybody who still has a problem with this at this point, that says a lot more about you than anything else.
@Big12rocks8 күн бұрын
Ute nation owes Keanu, his family, BYU, and the Church an apology. Some pretty horrible things were said without ANYONE knowing the real story. Kudos to dad for getting on the podcast and clearing things up. Hope we can turn Shawn and family into rabid BYU fans. We are an up and coming program (now that we are on a level playing field with other P4 programs) and NO ONE in the business has more class than Kalani and his coaching staff IMO. So glad to have Keanu onboard at BYU!

Literally hundreds of players every year mention prayer and divine guidance in their decisions. It doesn’t matter if you believe it or not, it’s if the player making the decision believes it. And it’s hard to criticize it as abnormal when hundreds do it.

In my opinion, he should have signed once there was an agreement with the coaches and and the declaration on social media. Hard questions 1) who offered more money? 2) when did BYU first approach Keanu? 3) if the refs for next years BYU game weren’t paid off .. and next years game will be called fair and square ..would the decision be different?
@Justanobody-117 күн бұрын
Hard answers 1) sec schools offered more money 2) same game is played by Utah 3) same refs poor calls benefited Uteys for years in games against BYU. Example Jaren Hall phantom stepping out of bounds on 60 yard run up the sideline for touchdown that was called back the last game Uteys played BYU. 4). Who cares!!! Just stop whining. 5) The problem with Utah this past year is they were very good at telling everybody ( and I mean everybody, team, coaches, cam at the b12 meetings, former players, announcers, fans, tv sports radio personalities, print media journalists and podcasters) how great they were going to be and run B12 all the way through the playoffs and forgot to just shut up and play. Utah was embarrassed and embarrassing and now you have a real problem on your hands. Just sayin 😂
@davidblanchard96576 күн бұрын
@Justanobody-11 ironic that you went on an inconsistent rant about ref's as a response to a complaint about officiating and then said to shut up😂....hurt much are you?....Obviously...the previous 11 games are still making you cry😂😂😂...and no we won't shut up just as much as you have a right to complain about the last 11 games... I thought he just said that Georgia wasn't willing to pay him the seven figure salary that BYU is paying him--just saying.... I wish Tanuvaza all the success he can get but there are still my own questions about this transaction that are not likely going to be transparent-- Again, best of luck to Tanuvasa--even in spite of BYU.

For me it's worse hearing that Utah was able to match or even exceed BYU's NIL deal. I'd rather hear that it was about the money than hear that it was somehow about personal development, Utah spent three years helping him develop and become the player he is today.

Out of 73,000 players, only about 1.6 % are drafted into the NFL. College football (power four conference school) makes anywhere between 20-80 million per season. Getting upset because a player has been provided a chance to make money is crazy. Be happy for them, like you would if a coworker was recruited by another company for better pay.

NIL and portal have ruined any potential for true loyalty to a college. It needs to be fixed. NCAA needs to add some more controls. Despite what Shawn says, and I respect Keanu's decision to some extent, bottom line it's all about money! Shawn saying they both are "Die hard Utah Fan, all we have is red, etc. etc." should result in him staying at Utah with NIL money that was good for him. He moved so bottom line its all about $$$$$$$$$
