I loved Sister Sledge! They really had some good songs. I was saddened and shocked when Joni passed away far too soon. She was my favorite in the group. Thank God the music lives on for us to enjoy. Peace and blessings.

You can feel the Chic vibe in this song. Chic's Nile Rogers produced Sister Sledge during this period.

Sister Sledge had little to nothing to do with this album. The label wanted Nile to produce The Rolling Stones, & Nile wasn't about to tell Keith Richards how to make a record. So, he asked them to just give him an artist they had signed that never did anything. Sister Sledge was that act

That was so much fun! Brings back memories, I was still too young in 79 to go to real "discos" but boy I sure learned all the dances and practiced them at home and "boogied on down" at school dances, wedding receptions and such. I don't think a day went by that I did not race home from school and put on my disco albums and practice my steps in front of the mirror. My Mom loved to dance too but was in a wheelchair. We often play my albums in the living room and she would watch me and give tips. Or help me work out a difficult step we had seen on tv. We always watched the disco dance shows together that were popular at the time. The music always makes me feel happy. :)

Sister Sledge was an awesome group of, well sisters, and awesome vocals and I mean what a song. Fun fact, many years lady a young artist at the time, Will Smith, sampled this song which he used on "Gettin' Giggy Wit It" adding to this, you may also be surprised that the rhythm guitarist feat in this song is none other than Nile Rodgers, who has collaborated with other artists such as Chic, David Bowie and many, many others, his talents are so recognizable, chances are you, somewhere at some point you may have heard many of his collaborations over the years

Niles po produced huge acts like David Bowie Diana Ross. DURAN DURAN huge fir their time, who he said was his second band. Chic of course first, You can hear Nile Rodgers all through union of the snake by Duran. He could have given the instrumental to both Chic and Sledge even back in their time.
@DDP-b3o2 жыл бұрын
There are more docs on Bernard and Nile out there and in one they talk about how both of them wrote and produced many of their earlier acts. No disrespect to Nile because Chic was and is one of my favorite groups of all time, but it's a little more convenient for him to discuss shop today when Bernard's not around to validate his role in the partnership. Nile may have had a more creative role but it doesn't negate the influence that Bernard brought to the table. Just saying.

These are all oldies but goodies! The early and late 70's were a good decade for great music and lots of great talent which is very lacking in today's music not to throw shade on anyone back then the music industry was so competitive as far as being unique different not everyone sounding like a auto tune with fake music back then you had to be able to play your instrument without any hesitation and sing as well if you watch the movie Roll bounce they played a lot of the artists from the 70's including this song.
