@@uoqy cool but in the "front of scenes" he was running away and crying. Look at the scene when he was walking down the sidewalk. You see him become scared and cry and try to run away. That's not fake.

Just a bit of extra info...the band actually formed under the name "The Management" and IIRC they used to play on their college campus and joke around acting like rock stars. (They didn't actually want to be famous) The story goes that when they would play and people would ask who they were, they would reply, "We're the management." but another group had the name already, so they shortened it to MGMT...

When you're a child, your eyes and perception aren't used to the real world yet. It takes time for your vision and cognition to become corrupted by 'reality'. At first, children just see blobs and colors and maybe even psychedelic shit. You get used to your parents first, then everything else around you. I know this songs' meaning has a "humans are ruining this earth" message, but i interpret it as saying as we grow, we're innocent, but the world is shit and scary, so live your life with caution, don't bite off more than you can chew, and take care of the earth so your family and humans can live for generations to come (A family tree is impelled to continue long enough to have a past, ancestors that can then “haunt” it.)

A year late but I think many people missed a very real point. Many are interpreting the kid is seeing everyone as a scary monster and trying to find the one thing it knows as safe... which is his mother. However, notice how the mother is young, decked to the nines to look good and very careless and neglectful to her child. We vilify men all ofmthe time but there are mothers who have kids thinking it will bring them points for their family (whether they can be taken more seriously or her parents nagged her to have a kid) but then realize how much of z pain they are to take care of 24/7. It's cutting into her youth, her own time to have fun, and money that could be used for her elaborate lifestyle. I know parents that put their child diagonally behind them in a carseat so they can see the child and the child can see them if they get stressed. That mother clearly sees the child as a burden and the child will continue to believe this is how a mother is supposed to be.

7:20 ''Hotdogs'' is pedophile code for young boys. Also, the whole demon thing and child sacrifice hints throughout the video... Personally i think its disgusting, and worried because the band seems to be familiar with the hotdogs code wich is a big red flag. I always loved this song but i am very turned off by this all.
