Never mind the lyrics, his voice was amazing. At his age, he sang with so much heart. One in a million.

Frankie Lymon & The Teenagers' were a doo-wop group from the 50's. Their first & biggest hit was "Why Do Fools Fall In Love". The group were known for both their harmonies & choreography & also had hits with "I Want You To Be My Girl", "I Promise To Remember", "Who Can Explain?", "I'm Not A Juvenile Delinquent", "Out In The Cold Again" & "The ABC's Of Love".

Then Frankie went solo, got depressed because his voice changed, the record company didn’t like that he was in the puberty stage and nobody didn’t want to help him with his heroin addiction, he was a young man with no guidance in life, Rest In Peace to him and his two wives the second women was Zola Taylor Frankie had an affair with her as a teenager and an adult their marriage was a publicity stunt so that Frankie can be famous again which was true so Rest In Peace to All of them.

Also, for many decades his group The Teenagers continued to perform around the country with various different leads over the years. Jimmy Castor, Lewis Lymon, and Timothy "Tiny Tim" Wilson were some of the leads who took over Frankie's leads at the live shows.

Lymon was only 15 when his cover was released. Sadly he died of a heroin overdose at his grandmothers home at the age of 25.

Shawn and Mel...What a music icon, singer and song writer with a great talent that had a sad ending...After Lymon went solo in mid-1957, Both his career and that of The Teenagers fell into decline. On February 27, 1968, He was found dead at the age of 25 on the floor of his grandmother's bathroom from a heroin overdose with a syringe by his side. His life was dramatized in the 1998 film Why Do Fools Fall In Love.

My mom and grandmother knew Frankie, he lived in our old neighborhood in Harlem. Larenze Tate did an amazing job at portraying him in Why Do Fools Fall In Love .

Great song choice! This is a cover of a song written in the 30's. Johnny Mercer wrote the lyrics to this and many amazing songs from clever to comical to romantic including BABY IT'S COLD OUTSIDE, SKYLARK, and AC-CEN-TCHU- ATE THE POITIVE.

One of Frankie's "wives" was Zola Taylor, the lone female singer in the Platters. Taylor claimed to have married Frankie in 1965, but a year later claimed the whole thing was a joke that she just went along with at the time.

Frankie Lymon didn't write this song it was written by 2 song writers. He did write Why Do Fools Fall In Love with another teenager who was supposed to sing it in the first place Frankie actually wasn't the lead singer. He went to a recording company for an audition but the lead singer one of the Spanish kids was late so Frankie took his place and he didn't leave, lol. Things were rosy for a while until the corporate bosses talked Frankie into turning his back on the teenagers a very disloyal act that Frankie recognized he left his buddies out in the cold they tried but failed to further their musical careers and the survivors blame Frankie to this day. I have seen this stuff before and it stinks to high heavens when all of a sudden he says I'm going solo it stinks.
