Per and Marie were already successful with their own music in Sweden but wanted to break international markets. Per had tried to break the US with his band Gyllene Tider, making an album in English, under the band name Roxette (title of a Dr. Feelgood song) but failed. So when Per and Marie decided to form a duo, they used the same name. Per was the main songwriter as his music is more commercial sounding, and they put Marie forward as the main vocalist, although funnily enough it was The Look, sung by Per, that was their first international hit. You mentioned films...they both have, as Roxette, and individually, a number of songs in films but by far their best known one, and probably their biggest song (apart from this one maybe) is It Must Have Been Love, from Pretty Woman, one of the biggest films of the early 90s. Btw, Listen to Your Heart (as of 2020) has over 6 million radio plays, just in the USA alone! The video you saw was taken from a concert in Sweden (same for the single Dangerous. There is also a great video from it for the album track Cry - Marie composed the music for that one). As someone else mentioned, Marie died in 2019 after battling brain cancer since 2002. Per is still going strong though with solo material, Roxette (as PG Roxette) and with Gyllene Tider. OK, that's probably enough info for you!

So Roxette is a Swedish duo, vocalist is Marie Fredriksson who sadly passed away in 2019 & guitarist is Per Gessle, who's also sometimes sings with her & your pronunciation is on point If you'd like to hear more of them, I would reccomend songs like "It Must Have Been Love", "Joyride", "Fading Like a Flower" for a start :D

Well the opening tune for this song was actually sampled by eminem for his own track of same title. But as for Marie she was a trained Mezzo and from memory had a 7.5 octave range. But its live she really excelled as her breath control was excellent and she could switch from head to chest from word to word. She was also very much into singing different styles, opera, jazz, soul, folk/country, rock and of course pop.

Live concert that they filmed as the official video for the single. Marie Fredrickson had such an amazing vocal range. Fantastic on studio recordings but Her talent shone through even more Live ❤ If you can, check out their song "soul deep" Live from Zurich is a masterpiece 👍

The main guitarrist is Jonas Isacsson, who made a lot of Roxette's riff, for example the riff in The Look was made by Isacsson. However, Roxette was a duo between the songwriter and singer Per Gessle and the singer, interpreter, songwriter and pianist Marie Fredriksson(who passed away the 9th December 2019). Roxette had wonderful Swedish musicians.

Roxette don't have a bad song. Their albums are worth hearing. Almost every song they have is a hit One of the soundtracks from the movie Pretty Woman (starring Richard Gere and Julia Roberts) 'It Must Have Been Love', is a Roxette song RIP Marie Fredriksson 🥀
