I'm a 55-year-old white woman from Kansas that grew up in the Shawnee mission area and as it turns out my Indian lineage is Shawnee. Thank you for this presentation Chief Barnes. It's hard to find good info from the indigenous informed perspective.

My 5th Great Grandfather was Shawnee Chief Tecumseh. His Great Grandson was Thomas Long Tom Waylwaywayseka Washington who went to meet with the President in 1907. His Daughter Ella Washington was my Great Grandma her

Where I live just South of Lima, Ohio, there's actually a couple of signs. Historical signs about the hog Creek and Wapakoneta people's being relocated to Kansas. I believe starting in 1848, and this part of US history greatly disturbs me. I am sad that my people could do such a thing. She's such a great people

The South Charleston mound is not connected to known tribe. Adena is the name of the white male 'discoverer." But the stairs on that mound have me cringe, altho I did walk up them decades ago before I realized how irreverent that is.

I have no reply, as I don’t know much about Shawnee history, but I would sincerely appreciate any links to information about the nation and traditions. Working on affiliation, and I am finding it hard to find good information on the web about Sawanooki people.
