We used to get fire wood for years. We used to call the Peevee pole with the T stand on it a “Timber Jack” It was invaluable for lifting even the heaviest logs for cutting. I built one from scratch too. Great tools.

I own and LOVE my LogOx! I use mine for bucking trees as it aids in keeping my bar and chain out of the dirt. It is also a BACK SAVER when I am lifting logs onto my trailer or log splitter. You know what they say. "Work SMARTER, not harder!"

I hurt my back twice badly, hip wore out, both knees replaced (the high lights). Take care of your body, it's the only one you'll ever get. Getting out of bed during the winter months is a challenge in itself. For you young people, employers will take advantage of you if you let them and when you're tired and injured, they'll get a new guy and deny your injuries. Document everything and get regular medical exams. I've even tore out both funny bones, a story for another time. Merry Christmas Shawn.

As you know though, reporting an injury quite often is like signing your resignation papers. Catch 22, you are correct yet a slippery slope if you like the job. Be careful, lift correctly, and listen to elders how to do a job smarter…. Good luck to you jerry, I can relate and do! Those cobwebs in the morning are hard to break! I concur regarding the LogOx tool. It is a top ten tool around here. A real back saver! And the peavy stand Shawn refers to will lift a log off the ground and save your chainsaw chain from inadvertently scrapping the ground when bucking.

Love those Log Ox's as well. Purchased one this year and I wouldn't even try moving logs without it. Great for cutting firewood.

I heard a story about winter, maybe here. A man was tired of the snow and cold that came every year, where he lived. So he packed up his cloths and loaded his pickup truck and stuck a "snow shovel" prominently visible in the back. A friend asked him; "why did you do that?" He said; " I'm going to start driving south and when someone askes me what the thing (snow shovel) is and what its used for, I will stop driving south and live there". At 8:40 you explain the saw binding, if you use a wedge on the top of the cut , you will prevent that !!

In that situation, if you just cut from the bottom up, then as it falls your cut will wedge open from the bottom and not pinch your saw.
