In 2022, I fell victim to booktok and purchased this book… it was like driving past a car crash, truly god awful yet I couldn’t look away. I had no idea who CoHo was (I was chronically offline back then) and I was going crazy because this book only had 5 star reviews and everyone was telling me to read her other books (spoiler: they were even WORSE). Moral of the story: don’t trust booktok and now I read the first few pages on google books before purchasing or just go to my local library. Save your money!!

the thing is verity could be interesting if idk, verity & her kids are like actually been abused by jeremy but no one believed them since jeremy is so good at putting on the nice guy facade but lowen started to put the pieces together and then help verity & crew escape jeremy (and maybe even make lowen & verity falling in love with each other, since colleen gotta insert some romance no matter what genre it is anyway. and at least it would make a lot more sense too; lowen not only getting to know verity through her works and journals, but also just their interactions together since at some point she also help taking care of verity as well when everyone else is sort of busy and the fondness towards verity just grow naturally for lowen) like just imagine one of the last scenes is them trying to run away from the big creepy mansion while jeremy is practically hunting them down since he figured it out that lowen and verity been working together?!?!? gahh the sapphic thriller perfection it couldve been

The worst ending I read was a book series that had recently gotten a 3rd and final installment. The second one ended with everyone dying and the third ends (after 500 pages!) with the realization that YES EVERYONE DIED. THE WHOLE BOOK WAS USELESS AND DUMB. It only existed to add a weird relationship and self insert characters who ex-machina the book.

As a thriller lover and being new in booktok I bought this book last year and oh it's soo damn baad. I still see people saying it's one of her best but it really isn’t. To me it's a book that has a lot of plot twists for the sake of plot twists. So many things are creepy but not in a good thriller type way (I don't know how to explain). I don't know honestly nothing makes sense to me in this book. And I've read some very good thriller in my native language so this book is just 1/5. (Sorry English isn’t my first language so it's not that good)
