What you tell about stimulance and response is exactly what I practised in my life since I was 26 years old (I’m 70 now). It’s so important for one’s growth and inner freedom and I wish this beautiful journey for each and every soul. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and wonderful piece of art. The angel was meant to appear there 💜

When you create abstract pieces I find them unique and extremely alluring; art that truly touches my personal sense of all that is beautiful about creativity. Though I highly appreciate and enjoy all of your work, I would love to see more abstracts emerge from your imagination.

Well Shawn, I'm sure that I haven't had the pleasure of seeing all of your creations but I have seen quite a few. I love this one as it seems brighter than most of what you do and I love bright ❤. Anyway, this is one of my favorites ❤️ 💖

I saw a runner with a number on her chest. Looks as if she is “ running the race of good faith” and spreading light wherever she goes. The message about choosing and changing our reactions really spoke to me. I recently did that very thing and although the situation was still painful, I had an inner peace. Thank you so much for your encouragement Shawn. 💕

This piece is divinely inspired. It speaks volumes. There sits the continent of Africa. The Messiah is of and at that land. Gold and red represent fire; He is a consuming fire. Many verses state that fire will consume the Earth. The number 72 = 9. The biblical meaning of 9 is Divine completeness, finality. This is both a profound and beautiful piece. Thank you for allowing the Spirit to use you. (If you were to make prints, I would like to purchase one.) Blessings to you~

The faux gold leaf is awesome! I wonder if you’d get that thin wrinkled gold leaf effect better if you painted the metallic paint onto tissue paper instead. Beautiful piece. 💖👍🏻

While I love all the yummy work you presented in your art I am really grateful and I thank you for the deeper explanation of your work. I loved being reminded that my negative habitual responses to those around me can change for the better if I continually practice to work on them and if I don't respond well then I can ask for their forgiveness and allow myself grace in the moment. I need to stop giving away my power to choose by just reacting. Thank you so very much.

It's not just you I thought it looked like a person too! At first I thought that was what you were going for was a abstract shape of a person but then I quickly realized as you were discussing the gold leaf as you were putting it down that it was not your intention however my eye was definitely drawn to that image. I am "happy" you saw it too!!! I also so the continent of Africa too in that burnt orange color too! I LOVE these colors together with all that texture! I am new to your channel and to creating art but I look forward to learning and relaxing while creating along with you!! I am about to go check out your shop because I love your stencils! Thank you for sharing your passion for art with all of us!!! I thoroughly enjoy your channel!

I remember experimenting with a similar technique to come up with thin pieces of gold leaf. What I did was paint gold paint onto parchment paper so that I could peel off the gold paint once it dried and it worked pretty well. I also tried mixing some gold PearlEx powder with some matte medium, then painted it onto parchment paper and again, this method worked fairly well. Instead of using printer paper, you could try using tracing paper, b/c it's much thinner, then tear your paper into the desired size or shapes. I love abstract art where the finished piece looks like geological shots seen from Google Earth, if that make sense. I can see a bit of that in your piece, Shawn!

I too saw a silhouette, almost as if they are walking out of a fire. Love your message today... I try to remember to respond and not react, but in the heat it's hard. When you added that last bit of blue mud canvas it made the rest of the orange reddish colors come fwd. I love all the textures... I'm going to have to try one like this soon. ❤❤❤ Laura m 🦋

Hi Shawn, this is super pretty! Good ideas with the painted gold papers. I buy Speedball Simple Leaf...it’s inexpensive (maybe $8 or so) and you a big bunch in a package. I use in my cold wax paintings, and with alcohol ink, but it would be beautiful with acrylics too. Amazon!

I have been struggling with my art lately as life gets in the way of creativity. your Focal points and finishing class is just the ticket to bring me back. I am going back to revisit the yummy backgrounds class too, the two of them go hand in hand. This abstract is fabulous. I love everything about it. Thanks for always being there to stimulate our creativity.

Shawn, wow, wow, and WOW! As you can guess this piece really speaks to me artistically. I see such growth and beauty in this piece that is so wonderful. I watched this twice since it really is chock full of learning moments too, for your viewers. Although at this time I prefer the abstracts that speak messages thru shape, color, line and texture, the techniques shown here can be so easily ALSO used for backgrounds in paintings for those who wish to add realistic elements. Looking forward to the next one! ( and thanks for the message too because it is such a good one!)
