Sorry you had to suffer through this short edited version of a most beautiful song. This video is a travesty. The standard length has an addition verse and a fantastic Moog solo from Richard Tandy that cements the supreme dreamy feel.

Oh no way. This is awesome. Look at him. Early 70s. Love it.

Agree felt like we are missing half the song with this edit.
@BringItMAGA4 ай бұрын
@@rickhawk22 this was an early early video meant to air in a 3 minute time slot. I think it did a lot to promote ELO when a lot of us didn't know who they were. There was no social media. So a lot of people saw this and went and bought the album. Served it's purpose. Those of us who were teenagers when this came out found it groundbreaking. Guess you had to be there.
@chronomatt69904 ай бұрын
@@BringItMAGA Okay, but it’s currently not 1974. It’s well into the 21st century when reactors and new listeners are discovering the song and ELO for the first time. In 2024 we don’t have to worry about a 3 minute time restraint, especially when it doesn’t benefit the song. This is an edit that neuters the song.

The video is NOT worth the butchering the song. This cut out the entire second verse, second chorus, and the bridge.

I'm so fortunate enough that I was able to get tickets for ELO in October 2024 at the Forum in LA. I saw them when I was 17 years old in 2l1977 and I can't wait to see them again. I signed up on their website to be emailed as soon as they went on tour. A huge check off my bucket list. Thanks for your reaction ❤️

Shawn, seems that you have been given a link to a radio edit version (or single edit version) of "Can't Get It Out Of My Head". Not only that, but you weren't given the version with the lead-in track "El Dorado Overture". Both should be listened to together. Here's a link to the the full length version of both tracks: kzbin.info/www/bejne/a2LIY2WkitSqsKs Please listen to it the way Jeff Lynne wanted it to be heard - they way it appears on the album, and not the way some record company person decided to edit it for radio play.

They meant exactly what they wrote.
@lauraallen554 ай бұрын
Well, they would be exactly wrong then. Oh, are you their spokesperson then? Good! Here you go: 'Patreon' is a proper name of a platform that someone dreamed up to call their company. People who join them are not called 'Patreons'. As a member of KZbin are you called 'KZbin'? If you are a member of FaceBook are you called 'FaceBook'? No, you aren't, just like being a member who joins Patreon is not called a Patreon. ffs!@@RockChick63174

Good review, as always, but you picked the wrong video. This is a shortened version of the song. Check out the length of the original song and compare it to the video to make sure you're getting the full version.

From their ELDORADO album. Truthfully, the whole album is a symphony and should be played end to end. Try it sometime. SO AWESOME! Jeff's best work.

I saw them in a small ballroom as an opening act. You knew from the first song they were gonna be around for a long time. Jeff talked to the crowd about his love of The Beatles, and Chuck Berry. Even way back then, he was playing ROLL OVER BEATOVEN. That is an excellent song choice. Many thanks to the donation requester for asking for it. You get this one played infrequently.

When I was a kid, I didn't get the "light orchestra" pun. A "light orchestra" typically refers to a group that performs **light music**, which is a genre of orchestral music with roots in the 18th and 19th centuries. It's known for being less serious than traditional Western classical music and is characterized by: - **Through-composed**: The pieces are usually shorter and through-composed, meaning they are written from beginning to end without repetitions of large sections. - **Audience Appeal**: Designed to appeal to a wider audience and context than more sophisticated forms like concertos, symphonies, or operas. - **Versatility**: Often used as themes in films, radio, and television series due to its accessible and appealing nature¹. Light music was particularly popular during the mid-20th century and was a staple of early radio broadcasting, with stations such as the BBC Light Programme playing almost exclusively "light" compositions. It's occasionally also known as mood music and concert music, and is often grouped with the easy listening genre¹. [ChatGPT] ALSO: ELO is one before ELP. Great review. Listen to father. He loves you. Happy Mother's Day!

It seems like reactions to my favorite songs (here and other reactors too) always end up the worst versions. 3 minutes versus 4.5 minutes is a big difference. This was not live, unfortunately. This whole album - El Dorado - is so good. The missing verse was really glaring for me. Yikes! Here it is. Please listen to the entire song on your own? You really need to hear this song in context with the rest of the album. ELO is a band best heard on their albums. Album experience was made for them! I love that you're hearing and loving so much ELO, but they truly shine when you listen to their songs as they were meant to be heard. I hope someday you take the opportunity to listen to not just El Dorado, but Face the Music, A New World Record, Out of the Blue, Time and Discovery. The album Discovery was called 'disco very' by one of the members. I believe it was Bev Bevan. Last Train to London is on that one, and you must hear it if you haven't! Breakdown on the shoreline Can't move, it's an ebb tide Morning don't get here tonight Searching for her silver light

Shawn, you asked for it, you got it! I chose some I think you would love from their albums during the mid-70s to early-80s time period. ELO 2: Roll Over Beethoven - must be live! On the Third Day: Showdown Ma Ma Ma Belle El Dorado: Eldorado Overture Can’t Get it Out of My Head Boy Blue Face the Music: Fire on High Strange Magic - a bit like this one A New World Record: Telephone Line Do Ya Out of the Blue: Turn to Stone - Jeff Lynne's favorite to play! Starlight Summer and Lightning Discovery: Shine a Little Love Confusion And for something later and a lot not like ELO's other work: Long Black Road - very rock-sounding!

I love ELO, big fan. Jeff Lynn is an amazing song writer, but I have only one response to your ideas of great music. Pink Floyd, Pink Floyd, Pink Floyd. The band was popular while Sid Barrett was still with them, but after his departure, Rogers Waters took the band to highest they never would have received otherwise. Their music, lyrics, and storytelling is beyond anything any other band put out. Dark Side of the Moon was a huge hit for them, but Water will always say; The Wall (the album, btw, not the song), was their greatest song. It was Waters Magma Opus, and has yet to be topped by any band for the complexities of the story and music.
